Reviews for "Mario's Blocks"

So so...

It...was ok.The grapics were great...the music was fine, but the only reason I gave you a low humor grade is because i'm not only a dbzfiend but also mario. If your gonna make fun of mario and luigi make it really, really, funny!

UberAoC responds:

Ah, the humor didn't quite appeal to you, eh? That's ok. I'm not a DBZ fan at all, I just thought it would be funny for the FulpBots to finish off Mario like that- a very random, unexpected finish. Definitely think Mario's cool though.

Ah well. Can't please everyone at the same time. Glad that you gave it a try!

wow...

that was soo lame... in every scene it had that laughing bowser, using the voice of nelson, and the titles gave away what was gonna happen... like scene 2, "BOOM!"....omg wonder whats gonna happen now!.....i have to admit the animation was really good, but the jokes were really bad...

0/5
just cuz its good animation, it doesnt matter its not funny

p.s. i stoped watching at about scene 5...

UberAoC responds:

The title's may have eluded to what the scene was about, but how else should a scene be labled? It has to relate in some way that the audience can understand. It was the way the scene was EXECUTED that counts, anyway. They weren't really jokes either, more like scenarios.

It's a shame you closed out at Scene 5, as the best parts of the animation followed it. A lot of people didn't like the beginning scenes, but the end scenes had them laughing! You should've kept going.

It's a shame you didn't enjoy it. But you definitely should've watched the ENTIRE thing before reviewing. Thanks for at least giving it a try!

Unorignal

This was unorignal and boring.but in ur responses u say its orignal and fresh. All sprite movie sutff happens when mario hits a block. And I hate that Nelson laugh.

UberAoC responds:

Rating my cartoon as unoriginal and boring is just a matter of your personal opinion.

I stand by my word- my flash cartoon is original and fresh. Of course using Mario as a main character may not be the most original concept, but everything that I portrayed was indeed original. All the scenes are things that nobody has ever done before, nor portrayed it in such a way as I did.

ALL sprite movies use a sprite hitting a block as the main basis of their flash? All is never a good word to use like that, as it is seldom true. Please, point out another Mario flash cartoon that is based on Mario in several different events falling victim to the random events of what one block dishes out... seriously, find just ONE other.

Again, the hatred for the Nelson laugh is your opinion. Many users found the same thing to be very funny.

So is it original and fresh? Yes. I'm sorry that you may not think so, but that's just what you think. Thanks for at least watching it before reviewing.

The hell?

I thought you said this was going to be funny?

The only instance of humor was the Soviet Anthem being included.

All of these were slow, pathetic, senseless and non-entertaining. If you honestly think this is blockbuster humor, you Sir, are in need of a labotomy.

The Graphics were standard mario sprite fare, nothing particularly notable. All original animations were unpolished and lousy at best.

The Audio was also standard Mario fare. However the repeated use of the "Ha ha" got real old, real fast. Also as stated before, the only thing worth seeing this flash for was the Soviet Anthem, which is better put into effect in The People's Mario.

Style? What style? This was bad humor tagged to standard spriting and substandard hand work.

Violence, way too much violence for bad attempts at humor.

Humor did not exist in this movie.

Overall, this was a complete waste of time, effort and brain power. Cliche "Jokes" over the top, unnessisary and worthless violence in the vain attempt at a chuckle.

You probably would've been better off with fart jokes and bald gags.

UberAoC responds:

Ah, so you took the time to read the description! Very well done! Now let's see here...

Well, I'm terribly sorry that you didn't find any part of my animation to be humorous besides the inclusion of the... Wait, Soviet Anthem? No, that song was called "Farewell to Slavianka" by the Russian Red Army Choir. They are two entirely different songs which sound nothing alike, besides the fact they are both sung in Russian.

Everything that you have decided to label my cartoon (slow, pathetic, senseless, non-entertaining) is nothing more than a summary of your personal opinion. Everyone has different tastes, as you've so clearly demonstrated.

I'm in need of a labotomy? I wonder if any part of your review will feature something more than childish remarks and insults. I certainly hope so.

Sure, some animations, such as Mr. Solem's Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom may feature "polished" Mario sprites, but even then the sprites still have the feel from the game they came from. Not much can be done to modify the famous 16 bit hero besides arranging a few pixels differently or adding some other slight alteration.

My original animations were very experimental. I rarely see a ragdoll flash character take advantage of more than a few perspectives, whereas I've made many perspectives per limb. It was an original idea, which you clearly hated. Your opinion is your opinion, though.

Actually, a limited amount of the sounds came from the Mario series. Only 24 of the 86 unique sound effects came from all the Mario games combined. Though they were used numerous times throughout the flash, a vast amount of the sounds came from outside sources. Usually, a Mario flash depends solely on the use of Mario sounds. My animation used plenty of different sounds.

The "ha ha" is personal preference yet again, moving on.

More opinion and partially developed insults, alright.

Even more personal preference on the subject of violence and humor? Please, say something that might help me, as a constructive review is required to.

Ok, just reading your review has bored the hell out of me. You wrote absolutely NOTHING that could be interpretted as possibly being even slightly helpful, just some immature cracks at something you probably couldn't do yourself. Ironic how you come off as some pompous entity that knows all about how to make a grand and glorious flash presentation, yet again offer no tips or points of advice.

You should probably focus on giving the author a fair critique rather than giving the author a rant about how your personal expectations, however high, weren't met. Thanks for being the longest, worst review that I have ever recieved. That means absolutely nothing at all to me.

Sad...

You know, throughout the entire movie i had my arms crossed with this expression on my face: v_v

That...in all entirety, was pathetic. Im a huge fan of sprite movies, but when you use something that gets constantly old, with poor style, well then you've got yourself a crappy flash.

Sure, the running theme was violence, which is fine, video game violence is funny.

But when youve got the same exact thing every fucking time, it gets fucking boring.

You may as well just have mario jump onto a block and have it explode and just play that over and over, because each of these "scenes" were unoriginal, boring, and worse than the last one was.

There are alot of good sprite movies out there, and alot of good sprite artists, you are giving them who try hard and deliver well a very bad name.

Sure, this flash may appeal to those who have open minds, who laugh at something that's been shown in media about 4 million times.

Graphics: Well it was a sprite movie... although the hell scene wasn't too shabby.

Style: already been done before, you had no style, or rather, you had as much style as the last person who did this had.

Sound: Meh, wasn't too great. It was the same music looping over and over again every new scene. Bleh.

Violence: Of course it was filled with violence, and violence is funny sometimes, but in this case? repetitive.

Interactivity: not much, not even a scene select feature. Poor.

Humor: Pathetic, it didn't even make me chuckle. A sad sad attempt at trying to make a good sprite movie.

This, it was a try, and could have been better, but all in all, i'd throw it into the "Already been done" garbage pile.

Have a nice day.

UberAoC responds:

Oh boy, another big negative review. Ah well, I'm sure this one will be better than the others. Let's get started...

Well sir, Let me start by saying that I'm amazed at your face rearranging talents! I don't think anyone else on the planet Earth can turn their eyes into the letter V, rip their nose off, and change their mouth into an underscore! You win the internets for that!

Pathetic? I'm sorry to hear that. I'm guessing that a text reading, RPG based sprite movie was what you were looking for if you're a huge fan of other sprite flash works. By the way, I don't think that something can get "constantly old"- either it is, or it isn't. Crappy flash is your personal opinion. Others have claimed this to be one of the funniest things they've ever seen. "YOU ARE THE FUNNIEST FLASH WRITER EVER!"- cd2220 (quoted from a previous review)

This flash appeals to a good sense of humor... Not to offend you, of course. I'm sure that you laugh at some things... sometimes.

Actually liked a part of it, huh? That's different! Usually I'm called a talentless hack, but thanks! That's much appreciated!

Your opinion on style, shall I say, is less than accurate. I took some risks with combining my flash artwork with sprites. That's a very hard style to successfully pull off. You may think I failed at that, but I've recieved tons of reviews saying that it was great.

Sound was MEH?! Crap, you didn't see the whole flash then! The music starts out the same, but changes quickly into something else. Especially scene 6, which featured almost the entire score of "Farewell to Slavianka". You should really consider watching the entirety of a cartoon before reviewing.

All the deaths were very unique and not repetitive at all. Again, your personal opinion.

A scene select feature will be put in very soon. I'm still learning the vastness of the flash environment, so give me a break!

Humor, again, is your personal opinion. All people's taste of humor is different, so it's impossible to cater to all of them at once. Then again, I doubt you watched the entire flash cartoon in the first place...

Overall, not a bad negative review! Offered some point of improvement (scene select), but the reviewer most likely didn't finish the cartoon before reviewing. Oh well.

And thanks, I will have a nice day!
