I just never got the gist of this cartoon
At times it seems extremely corny and at other times, it seems like you mean it to be that way by throwing in the funny parts. Guess that's why it's entertaining, though. It's just unfortunate Blockhead doesn't play a bigger role. He doesn't really do anything crazy except riding the raptor and saving the planet. The rest of the time, he was just sticking in his no-nonesense one-liners.
