decent graphics introduces a lame character.
In Episode 1, Murdock "saves" Buttercups, the horse of a crying woman.
Interesting use of foreshadowing renders depth into the movie. In the beginning, Murdock's truck is shown to squoosh a tiny horse, which ultimately foreshadows his relation with the crying woman's pet. Moreover, his assistant's rolling of her eyes before Murdock asks the crying woman for the favor ultimately foreshadows Murdock's nature.
Murdock is apparently a doctor with strange fetishes. He has a silent Chinese assistant, who hands him his ultimate tool to help a broken-legged horse -- a gun.
The irony of the situation blossoms when the crying woman, who is terribly worried about her horse, thanks Murdock for "saving" Buttercups. Was her worrying merely a pretense to invite Murdock over for some carnal ulterior motive? She finds that Murdock isn't as she expected, just as the viewer finds Murdock's technique and nature isn't as we expected.
The graphics are King-of-the-Hill style, which, along with the dialogue, helps facilitate a character's personality; even in the brief moments of this first episode, both the nurse and Murdock seem already like familiar friends...
