Reviews for "Space Fighters Revolution"

I think the huge version will be a lot better

if you make one :)

Nemo responds:

I think it would be too. I might do it later.

I liked it

I thought everything about this game was well done. Sure, theres a lot of games out there like it, but who cares. I've played this a bunch of times over the last few days, and if a game keeps me coming back, to me thats a very good game. Great job.

Nemo responds:

I'm glad you liked it! Don't get cramps in your hands from playing too much. That would be bad. Thanks for reviewing!

Woohoo. :)

Lets start reviewing. I'll go left to right in the categories I put.

Graphics. Ahh, the prettyness. Good graphics make your eyes water because you can't blink for 10 minutes straight. This game, I blinked, but not INCREDIBLY often. The graphics obviously mean you didn't just pick some slightly random tints and slap them on like a frikken monkey, you clearly and carefully selected each color and gradient with patience, and at 1/4 zoom, you clicked and filled 5 pixels, and did that over and over again. But I certainly can tell you just ripped the backround(s?) off a google search or something. Overall, graphics are clean and clear, detailed and undisturbing. 9.

Style. Lets see, the reviewers are stating the fact this is an Asteroids tribute/rip-off. This game has superior style over Asteroids, as in you're not a white outline, you're a very circular blue spaceship that fires dual laser beam things, balls of compressed laser energy, etc. There are also 2 types of asteroids n' such (Which are round, too. Very circular game.) that all have their effects. In terms of style, the portrait of this game is beautiful, especialy compared to it's great grandfather. Style=10.

Sound... I first checked the options menu to see if I could make the difficulty to an easier mode before I even started the game and I saw a holy thing... A PLAYLIST!!! I loved Maiden's Wrath. Go ParaX9!! :D There was a sound for the lasers and a sound for the rockets which is a definate 4-6 points. The soundtrack was awsome too. Not really alot to say. 10.

Violence. Blow stuff up, what's there anything violent about that? 3.

Interactivity. Most people probobly don't know what this is, so lemme clear it up for them. INTERACTIVITY IS HOW MUCH YOU CAN CONTROL WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE GAME. You can't shape much to your will, but you can control which order everything blows up in. :) Not really anything much, but you can control what weapon you use, when you use it, where you are when you use it, how many times you use it, etc. So, not a lot, but a nice chunk. 7. If you could change the backround, you could've gotten another point. :P

Humor. Killing yourself and seeing how easy it is with frikken codes. Ha ha. o.o 1.

Overall, this game is a GIGANTAZOIDERAGA enhancementy tributey game. Games of Gondor, be afraid. Newgrounds, beware. This game is good. I personaly like Doomrunner better (don't hurt me please. D:) because it has more interesting weapons and a bigger area for everything and many more different varieties of enemies and all sorts of AI. This game is pretty, origional, spiffy, there's no crap to block the action, and you can blow yourself up. Yay! :D Overall score; 9. w00t!!

Last thing, I have some requests and tips for if you're making another game like this or of a similar genre.
1. BIGGER PLAYING AREA!! Please!! Your ship is about one twenty-fifth of the whole screen. Entirely too much. Make everything much smaller, and a few more enemies per wave. I'd like that mucho!! ^.^
2. More weapons or weapon upgrades please. ^.^ It would be nice to have some type of mine special attack or something and maybe upgrading things inbeetween waves or something? :D Just improve the weapons some. :P
3. Lastly, and what I think most importantly, MAKE SHOPS AND BOSSES!!! A big ship boss with numerous parts to shoot and blow up would have been SO FUN in this game!!!! And upgrades to weapons inbeetween waves or something like in a pause menu there's a shop would be so cool!! but bosses more. BOSSES PLEASE!! WITH NUMEROUS PARTS TO BLOW UP AND ANNIALATE!!!

I had fun with this game, and I said just before, I think that Doomrunner is still somewhat better. Just a wider use for the weapons I guess and a bigger moving area. :P Made even bigger kinda because you can switch screens. Maybe you can copy and paste it into wordpad, but I just enjoyed the game. And at last, I wish you good biddings.

Nuka~

P.S. I needed to edit alot of things out to fit into the review limit. ARGH. >.< And my spelling is bad because it's 5:45 AM

Nemo responds:

This is going to deserve a long response...

The graphics I did spend a lot of time on actually. It took me a while to figure out, but I wanted to get the shading somewhat realistic looking. I'm not the best at organic drawing, so I figured I could spend more time on the art in this game because it is comprised mainly of circles with lines on them. As for the backgrounds, I didn't rip any of those off of google. All of them were made in Photoshop using noise filters for the stars. To make the planet, I mashed a whole bunch of pictures together to make a texture then selected groups of pixels and added colors and layer effects. If you don't have photoshop or never worked with it, this probably makes no sense. In the end it just boils down to me making all of the backgrounds. Starfields are my favorite thing to make :-)

Thanks for the words on style! I always knew this would be similar to asteroids, but I never intended it to be a complete rip-off. As you noticed, it is a very circular game because like I said up there, circles are easy to draw.

A main thing I wanted to do with the soundtrack was allow the player to toggle music tracks on and off, just in case they wanted to listen to something else. Hopefully, I chose songs that all felt they had a battle/space sound to them.

Violence, I don't think there is much in this game. You probably could have scored lower.

Interactivity could have been improved and it would have been if I followed through with my original idea. A main thing I wanted to do in my first plan was have a completely customizeable ship. You would have been able to control colors, weapons, speed, armor, shields, emblems, and so on. The more I think about it, the more I would like to do something that includes the campagin and ship building options.

Nothing to say for humor. I laugh at some reviews, but that doesn't count.

I don't mind anyone liking something else better. Chances are I will too. I think I might have played that before, but I will again soon.

As for your requests, man, you must have huge resolution. The resolution of this was 850x600, so already people with res of 800x600 would be seeing some problems. Increased size of area was a request from the last one of these I made, so I did follow through. I'll see how big I can end up making it in the future because I do thing a large playing area would be a good idea, but might pose some problems for some people. Weapons and upgrades would definitely be improved in any future games with shops and bosses.

Thanks for the EXTREMELY in depth and informative review. You definitely spend your time on this, and for that I offer much gratitude. I should be coming out with more stuff in the very near future so I hope you enjoy it as much as you liked this! Thanks again!

Bottom Line: Boring

Personally, i thought this game was a bit gay. I mean, it's a solid game, and pretty straight forward, but i found it to be boring. After 30 or so seconds, I realized it was boring, so I decided to just fly into the asteriods and try to kill myself. It was much more fun than the intended task. Better luck next time.

Nemo responds:

My game is fairly straight actually.

Cool Stuff

[BAD:]
Nothing's really bad, but I'd say the game's quite simple. And that really ain't a bad thing too...

[GOOD:]
Hey, that was a good game. I mean it. I can't explain why but I like it a lot.

Note: It's similar to my bubble game but using a space ship instead. From a gondorian flash author to another, "This is a neat piece of work!"
I see that a lot are saying that it sucks, ah, I get that all the time. You can ignore them cause they don't make games, don't know the pain of doing it, and they say so probably because they can't beat the game or aren't smart enough to play it right. Bottomline is, this game doesn't suck at all. I'll be recommending it to friends if I have the chance.

[Rating: 5 stars]

Nemo responds:

I'm really glad you liked it! I'll go check out your game sometime today. I figure anything is going to get people who are opposed to it and want to see it burn. I think they are good for a laugh. Thanks for the review man!
