Reviews for "The Big Fat Tutorial"

Thank you...

I haven't yet submitted my own flash to Newgrounds, but I've been messing around with Macromedia Flash for a while. Thanks for giving me the pointers. I'm still very new at everything and I need a lot of practice, but I know your tips will help out a ton. Especially the motion guide lines and actionscript box. I'm a little disappointed that you didn't tell any more, but it's very true; you can't be giving out all of your secrets. I really like the way that you left it open for anybody to experiment with their own ideas though. This flash deserves to be in the top 50. It's a helpful reference for any flash artist, and that's what Newgrounds is about, isn't it? Good Job.

Helbereth responds:

I wanted to tell people how to do things I wondered about when I got past my weaning stage (somewhere between motion tweens and drawing backgrounds I wanted to know if flash had easy ways to do different things). So, I set out to figure out (through trial and error) how to use the tools available. I soon learned that a lot of the tools were easy to use.... but since nobody ever explained how to use them people just didn't know. I hope to remedy that (and dispel some myths in the process).

Thanks for the review!

Thanks.

Thanks for teaching me that stuff. I remember one time when someone I know was making flash, he said that he was going to use a mask for this one part for the scene, and I asked "Whats a mask?"

lol, thanks anyway.

Helbereth responds:

I had never seen masking explained until I noticed it in the menu. That film reel really was my first attempt (I was trying to make a logo for ICF). And it took me hours to figure out.

Thing is it's so useful (I used masking a lot in this) that i don't understand why it's never explained.

This is ...by far... the greatest tutorial ever

no other totorial goes this deep into making flash, while at the same time, grasps its veiwers, by acting like a movie. Excellent, Excellent piece of work

Sincerely,
Minion 777

Helbereth responds:

Thanks. Movie? nah.
Nice to know it holds your attention (if it didn't nobody would be learning anything).

Good tutorial

I don't have flash (mainly because if I had the money to buy it, I wouldn't have the time to use it) but from I can tell, this is pretty helpful. Well done.

Helbereth responds:

Thanks for the compliments and the review!

That was pretty good

I like this flash tutorial
this is going in 2nd place in my favorites list of all my 46 flash favorites. lol.

Helbereth responds:

Thanks. I'm hoping this helps a lot of people, so the more bookmarks the better!
