The Wizard Ran: Chapter 5

The fifth episode in the wizard's adventures! A week late because of the holiday. This one was made for the "Broke for Xmas" game jam. In this chapter, the wizard is broke and must make a lot of money by selling eggs. Also, you can burn the trees.

Definitely one of my favorites of the series. I loved burning the forest, making money (the easy way!), and the boss fights. Plus the music for the Wizard walking is awesome. I wonder if I could have a copy of it?

I found the 5th ending in the usual manner, by looking at the next Chapter. The boss fight that ensued was fun when I figured out the key to it.

I was glad for this experience, it reminded me of the old Final Fantasy games (which I never played), but simplified somewhat. Maybe. (Like I say, I don't know FF that well. It's actually closer to Zelda, I think.)

(P.S. You misspelled "christmas" on the tags, just pointing that out.)

heyya, if you want a copy of any music, you can find the game's entire OST here:

Have a good listen :)

Fun and wacky eggselling fest/maze-navigator/capitalism simulator where you use breeding and time travel to make shitloads of cash and destroy forests for fun and profit. It seems Ran always has the egg racket to fall back on when money gets tight. I discovered the price resetting out of panic after accidentally triggering the Cursed Forest burning down ending again and trying to escape it. Now I see cursed forest denizens throughout the whole game on every new run. I'm glad the music held up enough to carry this experience. Could get grindy and annoying at times just because of the slow start but overall a fun installment to the series
Edit: Finally figured out the tower secret! More meta fun

Another interesting chapter in this adventure! My first playthrough had me go what I felt was the intended story route of making it to the southeast airship and skeedaddling (but getting in a big surprise fight on the way) while my second route had me trying to save up money to at first buy magrits but instead stumbling upon the power of fire and burning everything away instead. Both were pretty enjoyable in terms of discovering the mechanics of the game and exploring around, figuring out the best route while being shocked by some twists. I felt pretty intimidated by the scale at first but it wasn't anything compared to episode 3 with the maze: with the map and the hints supplied here, this was surprisingly no problem and I can see myself going in for more endings.

While I enjoyed it, this one did have a lot of weird oddities which made it a bit annoying. For example, I dunno how the heck the airship bullets worked and what was going on with their physics. It was so difficult to tell how to fight properly so I just spammed bullets and that unfortunately led to me spamming past whatever their last words were. For another example, the fact that attempting to move to face a wall when standing next to it facing 90 degrees away makes you walk around it instead of just facing it made certain interactions annoying as well, such as burning the trees. All in all, though, it wasn't anything major that impeded me and it was still a neat little adventure!

adriendittrick responds:

the confusing airship bullets are intended because they're a reference to the very first game I made, if you're interested you can try it here (you might need a second player):

I fount ending 3 but it took me so much time D:
Any short cuts? so I can find the other endings faster.

adriendittrick responds:

One thing you can do to speed up the economy is to press R to reset prices so you can sell eggs repeatedly to the same town until you have around 3k

What do I have to press to set the trees on fire? I did not get it...

adriendittrick responds:

Gotta find some fire demons and buy fire spells from them
