They Took My Beloved

Author Comments

When I awaken weeks later they told me that my boyfriend is dead; that I should move on.

But I know the truth that they hide.

I can hear the rattle beneath their faux skin.

I know that they conspire in their rooms within rooms.

The scuttle of their feet echoes beneath the soil in concrete tunnels, in a place where the moonlight doesn't reach.

They have taken my beloved from me and I must save him no matter the cost.

A great short game with a surprising amount of replayability! The story itself was open-ended, and I loved how you are never truly certain if everything happening is real or just delusions of our Protag. Just like any game, the first time you play, it will be fresh and new, and this game is no different with all the intrigue and trials and errors involved. The music, hand-in-hand with the art adds to the mystery and that unsettling feeling.

Despite just being a visual novel, there is a surprisingly good combat system. However it would have been helpful if it had been explained that sometimes doing nothing and letting the time run, is the best choice.

All in all a good short game!
- Intriguing story
- (Surprisingly) Good combat for a visual novel
- And Wrench -w-

hey, the game appears to no longer work. it says something about an object store not being found. This is the first thing that appears, nothing before it. Thought that you'd probably want to know

Edit: thats weird then... im using chrome... maybe its my device itself? idk, since it sounds like its an issue you dont have control over, should i remove the review as it affects the rating (can i even do that)?

Marckel responds:

Hi, thanks for letting me know. It's possible that the browser you're using doesn't support RenPyWeb, which is needed to run RenPy games on browsers. I checked again and the game still runs on PC, Chrome.

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for properly crediting my music~ I'm not too big on visual novels, but I can tell the art must have taken a lot of effort to make. I encourage you to keep pursuing this line of work and aim for quality experiences.

Marckel responds:

Thanks for the compliments, and thank you as well for providing free-to-use music! Ever since I stumbled across your work I just really like your style! I'll probably be making use of some of your other tracks for future works still.

I love the art in this. but I personally wasn't into the story that much

Marckel responds:

Thanks! Still glad to hear it.
