To get into any good art programme, you'll have to submit a portfolio. The fun! the eexcitment! The pressure! The crippling agony of impending defeat!

We had a portfolio day in my first year of art school and in my class of like 12 people half of them had mostly middle school level work featuring mostly anime and furry drawings in their portfolio, I'm not joking. Before I entered art school an ex-friend once said, "Getting into art school is easy, they literally accept ANYONE." Although I was skeptical when he said this, I was shocked at how true it was when we had that portfolio day in class. Keep in mind, this wasn't one of those diploma factory art schools you have seen advertised on TV. This was an accredited 4 year art school in my city and is well known because Walt Disney took classes there Saturdays as a kid. And to be honest, I was shocked when my portfolio was accepted and I got accepted into the school (because it mainly contained mediocre nude life drawings and one really good self portrait.) Unfortunately, today I think most art schools will accept anybody with a portfolio no matter how bad it is because they are such money grabbing greedy bastards.

I'm not trying to be mean, but it's pretty amazing that this won weekly 2nd place considering the lack of animation.

I think the autobiographical aspect of this is pretty cool, though, and it's important for me to know what life is like for artists.

I went to ECU and majored graphic design. Ever since I was 6 I have drawn. Once high school came around people started mentioning college..."what the flip is college" I thought... People told be yea, your good, and you'll be an artist one day, go to art school. blah blah blah like you mentioned. Once I got to ECU I realized art school has nothing to do with art. You put yourself through classes and programs, more or less a system so you can do what people want you to do and draw after college. Sure its creative, but to me, real art is like love...its organic and has no limitation and rules. So i didn't stick around. Have done some soul searching, I found something else I feel and unbridled passion for, but I still like to draw. And when I draw, I do what i want =P ...but yea, I enjoy your series

I started watching this series from the this one (currently the last one) and i wached it all in one go.
The more i sunk in, the more i felt going through exactly the same stuff. I'm currently in my second year of studying "Visual Communication" and i think the only thing i have to say right now is:
Thank you. Thank you for making it a little bit easier and clear, making us/me see that most of us are going through the same process.
You inspire me to push myself forward :)
