9:52 EDIT: Fixed a small error I found. No biggie.

I'm in the process of messing around with a couple different types of games (and other stuff...) to see what I would like to take on as my personal project for the coming school year. This is an RPG engine, vastly improved from First Fantasy (released Monday), which allows for magic and items. And it's more graphic-based (whereas First Fantasy's engine was run with text displaying whether you hit your enemy or not), although I don't have the art skills to satisfactorily complement the engine. Hence the beautiful solid color blocks as characters :P

Red can use magic. Blue can't. In exchange, Blue has greater attack and defense than Red. Think of Red like a support character... of sorts... that kind of concept could be expanded upon.

Since the first reason anyone would want to come to Newgrounds is to learn (amirite?), I'll share the source code (AS3, CS4) with anyone who wants it with included comments so hopefully you can figure it out on your own. This'll probably undergo changes if I were to actually use it in the future anyway. PM me. Or something.

Otherwise, enjoy. Thoughts and suggestions are more than welcome.

(And no preloader because I ran into errors using it. The thing's not huge, anyway.)

good start

as far as i can tell this is a pretty solid battle program, but there are a few things that need to be worked into it:
1. a targeting system
2. an alert when an attack misses
3.some sort of movement or graphic with spells and items

as far as the demo goes, I have to say enable special attacks and run so they can be tested.

keep working on it, id love to see some out of battle stuff as well.

It's OK, could have better drawings

But, as you already said, it's not like you hoped for Top 5 :P
Good game.

sorry to say

But you are going to receive a lot of low scores from idiots who don't bother to read the descriptions.

A solid engine from what I could tell. With decent art and a story you could produce a successful RPG game. Good luck.

bcdefg123 responds:

It's not like I hoped for the Daily Top 5 for this anyway :P

Thanks for the comments
