A Halloween Horror checks all of the boxes of a 2006 flash platformer when I think back to the deep recesses of my mind, poor default control options and all. I even found the combat to be quite fun for a game of it's time despite the very tight hit boxes. Where I feel that this game really falls short is in it's level and objective design. Had this been a level based platformer, I think it would have done it better justice than this pseudo-metroidvania but not really style that is going on here. The many portals across one large level is reminiscent of Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, which is divisive for a reason - it ends up being a glorified Maze game.
IMO, Platformers and Mazes do not mesh unless there is some sort of progression system as seen in metroidvania games.
