Holiday Greeting Card

Author Comments

This flash was made for an online holiday card for the E*Trade Center at William Paterson University. Even though it's for work, I figured it'd be nice to submit it here for the holidays.

I hope you enjoy it! Constructive criticism and comments are welcome!

Credits: I couldn't put them in the flash itself (due to work), so here they are:
Newgrounds.com - Countless tutorials
Flashkit.com - Falling snow script
Khuskan - "A Christmas Rondo" background music

Nice work on this

I assume it's your first flash. Good job on it. Could use work, but it's an '05 submission, not to mention a greeting card, so I can understand.

EagleRock responds:

Yep...first flash, unless you count the stuff I had practiced on before I made this...

But yeah, it's not a complete winner, but I thought at least good enough for protection. I really had made this for work, but wanted to give credit to Khuskan for using his music, so I submitted it here as well just so he could be recognized. Also, I was interested in seeing how NG would review it, so it was all good!

If I do make another Flash in the future, it'll probably have more of a purpose and wouldn't be as simplistic. Thanks for the review!

Decent

I thought the snow flakes where a nice touch, and everything was done nicely! I do think you could have added some other stuff like a snowman or since there was a little hill you could have added a kid sledding down it. Overall I liked it. 3/5

EagleRock responds:

Thanks for the review! I thought the Flash was pretty simplistic myself, but it was the first time I ever tried it. I basically was going for things that I knew I could throw in there that would look polished and not like it was a drawn by a 2-year-old. For the amount of time I was allowed to do the project, it was really just a matter of throwing in what worked.

Thanks again!

Nicely done.

The grafics look good. The snowflakes as they fall are a little stiff though. These was much to it but for what it is its done very well. I like how you had the bottons on the ornaments. It's a nice holiday card. Well done, well done.

EagleRock responds:

The snowflakes weren't really my design, as they came from a tutorial on Flashkit.com. The snowflakes are actually Wingdings characters from the font set.

This was really my first serious flash and just wanted to make sure I did everything right and made no n00bish mistakes. I know there wasn't much to it, but it wasn't intended to be anything more than it is.

I appreciate your comments. Thanks for the review!

Pretty good greeting card.

It had the easy going, casual feel to it which easily suits the Christmas season.

When the snowflakes were falling though if you look closely you cant see a different shade of blue surrounding it. It wasn't that big of a deal but if your looking for something to improve on, fixing up that isn't a bad choice.

I guess the theme of this greeting card is everything coming together and falling into place during the holidays, atleast that's what I got out of it.

The music was very fitting, it set the tone early and made this more enjoyable. 2/5

EagleRock responds:

I loved the music as well. The second I heard it I knew that would be the one I'd want for my flash.

Honestly, though, I didn't notice any different color when I looked at it. I viewed it closely and it looked fine to me.

I doubt I'd really do more to this flash, as I really want to work on a game that I will hopefully get the time to do in the future. I'll take you suggestions into account when (if) I work on it.

Thanks for your review!

Pretty well done.

So, in essence this is just an advertisement for your company? =). No, it was pretty well done. The art was very good, and it created a nice atmosphere. Too bad x mas is over now =(. You should try making a flash with a story line. I bet it could be great.

EagleRock responds:

It wasn't an advertisement, as we are simply a lab to William Paterson. The card was intended for those that work with us as a nice holiday note.

I appreciate your nice comments about the art, as I really was stressing on doing things the right way the first time. I've seen too many bad flash to know what poor art looks like.

I do plan on making a game in the future, so we'll see how I do. I do have a degree in Comp Sci, so doing the AS shouldn't be hard for me. We'll see.

Thanks for your review!
