I have a long, long list of anime to watch, and Death Note is at the very end of it, a sort of sweet dessert to my long meal of increased weeabooism, based on the recommendations of another Newgrounder over AIM. Matsuda's role was amazing, going from timid to assblasting Light/Kira, Mikami killing himself, Near's badass act and final plan, and the voice actor for Light/Kira fuckin nailed that laugh at the end. Loved it

It turns out N switched both notebooks, whilst keeping the real. Matsuda shoots Light, and Light reveals himself to be Kira. Mikami stabs himself with a pen, and Light flees. Eventually, Ryuk kills Light by writing his name down in his notebook. Misa kills herself in anguish, and as Kira dies, he sees a ghost of L.
I actually bought merchandise from the live-action Japanese movie they sell at this Japanese collectors shop I like.
It was a replica of Light's Death Note, with the movie soundtrack, and a feather pen. So far, I've written the following names in it:

The Manga is better. I liked that premise. I mean, if you actually think about it, it did have a smart message. No matter how much you rid the world of "evil", it'll all still go back to normal. Crime can never be erradicated. But then again, not many people got that because they stopped watching it after L died. =|
