Well guys, I'm gonna be gone on vacation for a week, so no internet for me.
I'd just like to say, take it easy. Keep the art forum strong guys.

I can't dare imagine the terrors would happen to the art forum without big-jonny being here. I only hope that we last until your return.

Just curious, but what determines which pieces are featured?

And do new pictures get chosen on a weekly, daily, monthly basis or anything?

I'm just curious about it. I don't imagine ever having a spot on it, considering the magnificent pictures I've seen entered so far. But, just the though occurred to me at work tonight. :)

Congrats on leveling up ReNaeNae. I guess we'll have to get used to the metal glove for ReNaeNae, instead of the knife.

Right now it's in it's 'testing' phase. The art portal mods/staff/admin can tag something as 'front page worthy'. The plan is to keep stuff up there for a couple/few days... but apparently someone didn't get the memo and already swapped out everything that was on there yesterday.

"ooh, lookie!! a new thing to click!!I wonder what it does *click* hmm... nothing happened... *click, click, click* huh... must not be operational yet *click* ... *click* ...dumb thing *clickclickclickclick* ...oh well *click*."

Well the tagging system seems like a good idea to me. I mean, the same happens with the featured Flash movies right? If you would automate it, you would only get the best submissions, while it's not necessarily the best submissions that are the most frontpage-worthy.

A famous line from the original novel is that Dorothy says (after the whirlwind blew them to the land of oz) " I dont think were in Kansas anymore"....

they are on sheet iron, not on canvas

I know this is probably posted somewhere, but I can't find it. Can I post pictures I edited that someone else posted if I ask them and they agree to let me? I know in the license it says you can't, but if they allow you, you should be able to, right?

hey i think something goofy is happening to my art portal submissions cuz my old submissions from beyond my 2 latest submissions say that they are made by an unscouted artist but im already scouted and its not happening to the recent 2 submissions tho.

Depends on how and how much you modify them. If it's a simple recolor with photoshop levels or something, odds are it will get removed. But if it's line art and you color it, then that should be ok. Just be sure you credit the original artist.

That happens when you get unscouted for whatever reason. I fixed it for you... but in the future, art portal related questions should go in the Q&A thread, or just pm an art portal mod (list can be found under Help/FAQ > moderators).

Linux for artists

So, everybody who hasn't lived under a rock should know about Linux. And everyone that know a bit about Linux should know that there are a buttload of distros (versions) of it. Now, I happened to stumble upon two of them - openArtist and UbuntuStudio - which happen to be both geared towards the artist community.
Now, since they are geared towards 3D and audio artists respectively, I know those will not interest the 2D community of Newgrounds....but it brought up a strange thought:

How much of you would be agreeing to switch to Linux (I'm guessing the majority of you use Windows) if it had a distro that is as refined as Ubuntu itself and was designed for 2D artists - complete with an array of painting and drawing tools?

MSN is talikutt@hot.ee for those that are willing.

Oh well. Big-Jonny 13 added me on MSN randomly, and I had fun talking to him, so if anyone wants:

But, if I never talk to you, don't worry. I never talk to anyone on MSN. ;D (Usually they start the conversations)

I'd switch my Tablet PC to Linux if the tablet features were completely supported and the art and animation software that was available surpassed my current ones (Photoshop CS3 and Flash 8). But, as things are, I'll stick with Windows XP: Tablet Edition. =]

Hmm, Id suggest noting specific characteristics of a the character compared to the other characters. eg: homer simpson has just a few hairs, stubbly beard, relatively high forehead.
Mind you, he also has big eyes and no chin, but all simpson characters have that, so its not distinguishing for homer.
Then take these characteristics and use them to draw the portrait
