lets say your average laptop costs around $1000 (just an estimate there was no reasearch involved so don't give me crap abou this price). Now an average 3 bedroom house costs about $350,000. thats 350 times more than a laptop. Even if you remove most of the room, plumbing, heating, and cooling yous still be atleast 10 times mor than a laptop

really, I'm fuckin' tired of all the "you rather should give them water and a home" stuff, I mean are you guys not educated at all in America? The biggest problem is not that people don't have a home, people always made there own houses there. The water is indeed some kind of a problem, but the the real problem is that people don't get educated over there. We guys ( Europe and America ) with our education are always better off in situations of the general human rights. With this project they will get educated, even when there is only one laptop per village. They will get to now what they deserve, what's there's, how to do economy, get contact with other people, ...

Ideally, the Googling would work, but it'll take a while for them to receive any Internet at all, let alone comprehend it fully. The thing is, only around 15% of the world today has access to the internet. It may seem outlandish to many of us, but a lot of the world isn't even aware of the Internet's existence. Getting them to acknowledge the existence of the Internet and teaching them how to utilize it properly is a lot more important than giving them internet access and telling them to Google the answers.

Those low-level laptops are hardly of use to rich warlords. At most, they would put them on the market for sale. No one but the poor would be interested in those laptops. Therefore, it's a much more likely to go to its intended destination than money, which they always have interest in.

Also, Google was just a reference point to the Internet in general when I talked about it. Sorry about the confusion. I just used as a basis from the guy I was replying to.
