You don't think they looked really cool? Plus it just gives people goals to work to. If not a daily award, at least a movie that will get a lot of views and get a medal that way.

They wheren't awards, they where gems to show that your flash had past a milestone in views, they might have been pointless but then so are some of the other little things that people enjoy about the site. Really just to show a milestone and nothing more, but they where nice to see if it was on your flash.

yeah I agree, its wreally funny to see how many views different flashes got, and was a nice touch that kind of recognised how many people were gravitating towards that flash

I don't think if I had one I'd be really that broken up about it at all. I mean why care how many views you have, I'm more in it for the reviews. I could care less, and if you had a "gem" thats cool and all but over all you could just look over to see how many views/votes you have.

just went to a random submission in 2000 to make sure no one else tried to view it. the first time i refreshed, the number did not update. then after 4 more times, the number increased by 5. well... hmmm.... seems to work for me ;P the thing is, the views doesn't automatically update, it's got a bit of lag to it. used to do that before the redesign, too.
