Tom: Bring Back The View Medals!

As someone who has never gotten an award on NG (EVER), with lots of contacts who have never won a medal on NG (EVER), I've noticed that many, many flashes have thousands of views and NOTHING to show for it. I can tell I have never repeatedly refreshed any page to gain views, nor has any other contact (EVER).

Where am I going with this (EVER)?

Before Newgrounds was redesigned in July, medals were given to people for mile stones starting with 25,000 and going to 1,000,000. At this time, I believe one of my flashes was about to hit 50,000, and another 25,000. After the redesign, these medals were removed, and I have nothing to show for it (EVER).

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe this has happened to many others, no?

So here's here's the deal. This is a petition thread. If you post here, you are signing the petition to BRING BACK THE AWARDS FOR VIEWS!

But yes, I do agree, I miss those little things, though they where a little pointless and you could argue that they would ruin the look of the new layout but I think it wouldn't be hard to fit them in somehow. Would be nice to see.

To the refresh point:

If NG admins can make it so that the same IP can't vote twice, the can make it so they don't bring the view # up.

It's still be nice to have the view medals back, since they were the only award you always had the chance to get. even if it is just a pointless gem, at least it gave you hope.

Not really, some other flashes got them as well, you know such as the populare front paged ones. Many flash that where widly viewed got them, I had some with the 25k one, never got to 50k though.

I got to 50K just after the design. It was major blow to me. I used to check my view #s everyday and it was pretty cool.

my e-penis deflated when i lost my one million views gem on jive machine :( even though naturally people will be drawn to click on a nipple... still ;P

gems were pretty cool, they slowly killed them off. there used to be a 5k gem, and then they took that one off the site... because tons of submissions got over 5k views as NG was getting huge. ehhhh, no matter what i try to type in this sentence i always come back to... i miss them. but views weren't really balanced, because hentai and other shit gets so many more views :( people would put HENTAI HENTAI HOT PUSSY and shit in their paragraph to get more views and shit, i think this was toms way of trying to get people to stop trying to get tons of random views... but i have no idea, as i said, i miss them ;P

I think people use attention grabbing titles to get votes and not views really, but still, they did show that people where watching your flash, unless you where a little sad and used an auto refresher to get one. I'm sure someone could drew a really nice looking one.

yes, that's what he was saying. since it is currently set so that you cannot vote on the same submission twice, they could just as easily make it so that a view from the same IP does not increase the number of views with each refresh; although this still does not solve the attention grabbing titles and description :P

I have a question for you sir,in what does those gems affect Newgrounds in a bad way?Even thougth some people refresh the page infinitely,it takes forever to get one of these,it is also a source of motivations to those authors which make good movies and go on frontpage,but they don't get a award,so sometimes gems can be nice.

Also there should be a award when a flash gets on frontpage.

It's not a pertition, it's a suggestion, also that image is going to get annoying if people keep posting it.

but because of misleading titles and undeserving flashes, they took them away because it wasn't fair

I think they should have a voting limit
maybe if the flash is 2.5 or higher and it has the required amount of views it gets gems
and if its 2.4 or lower, no chance of gems.

So if I would sign the petition i want a voting rule to be enforced in gems

anyone agree?

I, as well as every contact of mine, has been downvoted at some point. That's the deal here. Nobody watches flashes unless

A. Their score is high

OR

B. They have awards.

So, the point of the gems is to give unknown flashes a bit of chance to be appreciated.
