gay means happy as a definition in the dictionary
one of the most common insults in school is' you're gay', or 'faggot' (they can't actually think of any other insults)
poking fun at homosexual people is fun, but sometimes it just becomes meaningless and lame

I know someone who hasn't declared himself gay, but he is a complete girl (his voice hasn't even dropped), but compared to nearly everyone in the school he is probably the most friendly, fun, nice person i have ever seen. he can lift your spirit because of his weird and hysterical attitude.

Sure you may not have bothered to read all of this, but if you are going to reply at least read everything here and reply with something meaningful

So, when they meet someone who they don't like, they relate them to what they are not, in an effort to alienate them. An effort to say "I'm not like them, so I won't become like them". Thats the problem though, the adaptation has led to homophobia, gay is an insult, therefore if someone is gay, it is considered as a bad thing - it's a vicious circle.

Did you type in "Gay rights" or gay rights without the quotations? It sorta makes sense that it's filtered considering the word gay will lead you to porn. It's like if someone was doing a report on the Vagina or a Carolina Caramel Apple.

Only if you meant it to be insulting. If someone is really gay and you just point out that their sexuality is of the homo- variety, then it's not rude-- it's like calling me an Indian. It's just what someone is.

Gay is not a derogatory term. It is used in many associations (GLBTA- Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transexual Association) and is now synonymous with homosexuality. BUT... using it as an insult IS wrong. That is because you are now equating the word gay to an insult. But then again, it's just as insulting as going up to someone who does something stupid and saying, "What are you, a blonde?" They should hold the same intensity of insult, but I believe because of the stigma attached to homophobia calling someone gay for doing something stupid would be considered much worse than calling someone blonde. But linguistically they have the exact same meaning.

Just don't use gay as an insult and you're fine. At the same time, we should point out that saying, "I bet you like to suck big cock" is JUST as bad. If you are using that as an insult, then you are implying that enjoying giving fellatio is an insult, and you could construe from that that being gay is therefore an insult. But no one seems to think that it's the same thing...
