Launch Automatically...

We will be having a poll for this soon, but I thought I would gather some feedback here as well.

Ever since we implemented the pop-up window feature for viewing content, we have had a checkbox to "Launch automatically from now on!"

If you click this box, the movie will automatically pop up whenever you go to a view page. I don't know of anyone who uses this feature, so I was wondering - does anyone? If no one uses it, we could consider removing it, as we are adding some more information to those pages and could use less clutter. Let me know your thoughts!

First reply!!!! No, I don't use that. I think it's a stupid feature. Getting rid of it is a good idea.

Tom. Please remove the score from the pages which are still < 100 votes for users that haven't voted on the movie yet. This will FORCE users to view a movie before voting and ensure it gets a fair chance.

It's not fair on movies which get a few low scores to start with, then are voted low by those looking for blam points. Or vice verser.

I guess it's something to consider. I know i as a user have no say, but hey. it's worth a mention. {{{{{{{{ tom }}}}}}}}}

I suggest that authors should get some experience points for every movie they make that gets protected, all of the movies that are now submitted are either getting blammed or reach the 100votes treshold. And how a about getting experience points for portal awards? Maybe it has been suggested before, but... maybe there are people which agree with me.

Well I never use it. My computer isn't that fast and I like to read a review and author comments first to see if the flash is even worth seeing/playing. I only look at potentially crappy flashes when at college since the connections so much faster and even then I don't auto-launch.

I don't see any reason to keep it.

I think the feature is very handy, and use it alot. It's much easier than clicking the box, and I think it should stay.

Well Tom,

I would rather see that feature removed. Personally, I've NEVER used that feature because I like the idea of choosing when I want a movie to play. Kinda' like my VCR and DVD players; I'm so used to pressing the 'play' button that I get kinda' irritated whenever it plays automatically.

You've got my vote to remove that feature.

I use it but i seem to be one of the only ones, but if it is gone i dont belive it will be a big problem just having to click(something i have to do anyways sometimes) but i would rather have it up

I don't really use this command ... I take my time to read author's comment and reviews ... then with a simple clic I can see the movie ...

If it will really change something as you said I suggest you to remove this function ...

I have used it quite a lot. It helps when NG is severly overloaded and I have to wait for the page to load, if I click "Watch this movie !" too soon, then the animation window won't pop-up.
Still, it's not essential. If removed, I'll manage without it.

I don't use it. I thought it meant only that movie you were at loaded automatically, not all the others.

well i used to use the auto load but then it started to jam shyt up. like when the page loaded itself auto it would just get all the errors

Launching automatically is dangerous-- you never know what kind of shit will come after you! Even with real feature films, I want to know something about them before I waste money on them, or waste bandwidth on a 3MB movie with nothing but an uncompresed .mp3 and an image!!!
