I know my level goes up with experience points gained by voting. How's the other stuff work?

Vote on content on the portal for ranks, and blam/save ratios. If you vote less than 2 stars and it fails: you get blam points. If you vote 2 stars or higher and it passes: you get save points.

If you see misrated, stolen, abusive content, you can flag them and get whistle points, that can get you from Bronze - Deity, but be careful not to flag just anything, for if you do it will count against you, which could get you garbage whistle.

At this point I am resigned to the fact that I'll just never get a gold whistle. I don't know what to flag most of the time.

I recommend looking in the art portal for content that's misrated.

That's a good majority of my points for reaching Deity.

I've heard that one before, but I'm not certain of the criteria for each rating.

If you want you can flag obvious misrated art. Example: Nude drawings of a character that has the rating of "E" or "T"

It can be tricky to flag art that can be rated "T" or "E" but art that's rated "M" or "A" always have some degree of nudity or mild violence.

It is a long step from Gold to Deity too. Remember it felt like it took ages to get that final jump way back when.

Apart from the very sensible content flagging suggestion there's also the review thing. if ever you see reviews with just a single slur or swear word and zero stars those are definitely abusive. If you stumble upon one of those you can check the rest of that user's reviews; occasionally that's all they've been posting. Those used to be the real treasure trove of flags back in the day...

I guess I just don't think about it much. I try to vote on about ten under-judgement submissions a day to keep the Portal moving. And I vote how I feel. I suppose I could be smarter.

For instance - - when I see a 15-second 'rated A' submission that someone threw together in SFM, I may vote one star because that's what it earned. Well, those rarely get blammed because there are too many people that favor those types of submissions... so it would help my save points if I gave it a two.

Yeaah in regard to A-rated submissions I do find myself voting more in accordance to how I know they'll fare then how I really feel about them... not too high though, a 2-3's enough to save. You can always change your score at a later time if you wish to too...

Unfortunately a lot of submissions I do like seem to not make it just cause they're a bit unpolished otherwise. People don't seem to value originality or creativity as much as aesthetic appeal - especially when said work's submitted by some lesser known user. There was this little Madness series recently with characters made up more of circles with thick outlines that I really tried to get through, almost looked like a new Poninjas, but alas, too many B/P hunters, and too many Madness test animations by new users that aren't worth saving have probably skewed voting habits there too.

I think overall users are getting a bit more blam happy though; it's finally starting to balance out years of a bit too favorable voting just to get Save points. You need to actually consider your votes to get points now. the vote-high-on-everything tactic no longer equates better gains.

Sounds like voting the way you vote's the right way to vote though! No need to participate just for these competitive points. Pretty activity rewarding though they are.

The whole thing is a fickle. By this point a great portion of the older age and at risk groups have been offered their first jabs and most have taken it up. Last I checked they were open to anyone as young as 38 to come forward for their jabs so I'm not so far off by this point. However, I'd much rather it was the Pfizer I'm given as the AstraZeneca can do one after all its issues.

Ahh makes a lot of sense that. I do like to have that digital detox but couldn't do it for that long. Apart from some quick check ups, I can very well have some time outs in the best opportunities.

Idk what happened with Boris' pub trip and quite frankly I shouldn't even care. I've had a lot of great beer garden sessions but sadly in the last two weeks the weather has taken for the worse. To be fair, the weather was somehow convenient with outdoor drinking to begin with in this period. Thought typical British weather would have fucked up all five weeks entirely.

That said, we'll be allowed to drink inside from Monday but concerns about the Indian variant have cropped up. Disruptions to June's reopenings won't be a surprise but everything else that has reopened there's no backsies from the plans. Just have to wait and see.

Well if you give the submission a '1' it still saves the submission now after the 2018 voting system, it still gives a very low rating, not exactly the same when you vote '0' on it.

About the 15-second A rated submissions, I think in my opinion those animators/authors could have a potential to create a decent A rated submission, but those people use those tactics from YouTube with clickbait regarding the thumbnails and the animation. At that point, it is about clicks and views (even though this website is really private compared to YouTube), they know that the people would eat this up and have that submission saved.
