Doesn't matter if some one is a minority or majority, you still have to cater to them because they are still part of the population. This site, for me at least, is an open forum for ANY idea that anyone wants to express. We have a voting system, if you don't like it, dont view it or blam it.

And it is true that a majority of people may not like gays but things change over time. There's still a lot of people who are prejudice against other races, but it's a lot less than 20 years ago.

And as response to NG being on a gay show, there is no way that hurts NG. This site is not a "gay" site, it's an INCLUSIVE site (pretty much anything goes). Also, there is no such thing as bad publicity.

And what's wrong with NG exposure to gay people? I'm gay and I've loved this site from the beginning. I personally wouldn't mind seeing some positive gay themes here, but it's not why I come here. I like this site because of the diversity of art and humor (especially the dark humor) here and that's what this site is. Just because someone is gay, doesn't mean they're on a constant search for dick. They're are many aspects of a person beyond who they have sex with.

It's a hard lesson to learn (still learning myself), but just let go of your insecurities and ignorance and just realize there is more than just yourself in the world and try and make life a bit better for someone else.

I don't get it one day there not showing gay site banners the next day after NG was shown on queer as folk there gay site banners everywhere what's up with that?

Sue them for what? Does anyone have an idea of how the legal system works? Unless there is some sort of liable against NewGrounds or some sort of damage that results from using its image, there is no basis for a lawsuit. So they used a NewGrounds screen in the show? How does that harm NewGround's reputation? The last national publicity that NG got was for a game where you are a suicide bomber and blow people up. There is no possible way that Queer as Folk can damage NG's reputation after something like that.

Besides, it would be incredibly hypocritical for Tom to run out and sue someone who obviously likes the site less than a week after someone threatens NG with yet another lawsuit. In addition, QaF appears on Showtime, which is owned by Viacom, which has more money and lawyers than you can shake a dump truck full of money and layers at. Tom would have to present an amazing case to get any money, and it would be tied up in appeals until sometime in the 30th century.

So in conclusion- lawsuit == very bad idea.

PS. The name "Queer as Folk" comes from an old folk saying from the UK, "there's nothing quite as queer as folk". It means that there is nothing as strange as people. It is a play off of that phrase.

Well Some of you might not know this, if your reading the later part of the BBS, but this whole post was Origionally just the question of whether or not Newgrounds appeared on a computer screen in the showtime show "Queer as Folk" Now I myself do not have Showtime, HBO, or the like (alas) so I can not answer this. There was one point however that was brought up, that Tom should sue Cinemax for using Newgrounds without permisson... Now I could be wrong, but I think those first few post were just a joke, some people however, havetaken it seriously, so I shall say my two cents on this. First, look at the subject name:

Yes, the things we love to hate, yet need to keep newgrounds free. Yes, I have seen alot on this topic as well, even if it is off subject, but I will debate.
Well there are two reason's that it's being debated.
1. because of the gay porn site banners (which gose into the whole gay topic also on this post, and has caused much debate) and 2. Because they are annoying as fuck. (which just about everyone agrees on :D).
Well there are a few ideas to dabate here.
First off, dose it really matter that there are gay porn banners on the site? (not that I have really seen that many to begin with) I mean, really, do any of you click on the banners for the gay porn sites? No? then ignore them and stop complaining!

accually, when I think about it, this expaned into the debate about the porn banners in general as well. Now personally, don't relly pay much attention to them, so I never paid it much heed. and alot of it beagn debating that it brought in money and the first amendment, or some craziness like that... now I for one have no real objection to the porn banners since it keeps newgrounds free... but I did read one post, probably the smartest one made about this deabate, that stated the fact that kids were also accessing newgrounds, and alot of them doing so from school. Now this is probably the strongest argument that is against the banners, and I think a wise one at that.
Now some of you might argue that kids should not be going to this site then from school... but this is a site for flash animation, and freedom of expression, and opinion, and of corse, sticks-clock-fecal-humor-and video game parodies :D. this is not a porn site (That is what NewDGrounds is for ;P). and we do have to take into consideration that there are kids 13 and younger going to the site, some of whom I am sure posted on this bbs. Not saying that we should move,remove,or keep the banners... just thought I would remind people of that.
Now, going into the next topic, the big one. the whole gay rights movement...
I am surprised it escalated this big... accually, no I am not. truthfully, among all the minorities in the US, Gay man and Lesbian women, have always had the hardest struggle, they've been pursicuted more and worse than any other minority, and even though it's better now then back inthe day (I hope anyways) they still continue to fight for their rights as Americans, and as Human Beings. Now I my self am all for there rights, they are humans, they are people like us, and as such, should be treated equal. However, I also find that some who responded in favor, seemed to have a little more hate in their post than they should have.

Anyway, for those of you that asked (and for those of you that didn't), here is the download on what Queer as Folk is all about.

QaF was originally a BBC show where their goal was to expose (literally) and educate the TV viewing population in the UK about the gay lifestyle. The show was ground breaking because, despite the fact that everyone thinks it's just a show that has a bunch of guys fucking each other, it actually and honestly showed what the average gay Britsh male had to deal with on a regular daily basis. Everything from dating to coming out to getting bashed by those narrowminded to think they are the spawn fo the devil.

Showtime's QaF takes that same concept and makes it a little bit bigger. Unlike the BBC version, the USA version features lesbians and bi-sexuals. It also tackles the issuse of gay parenting and the challenges faced when coming out to the family whom are so narrowminded and backwards that they openly say they don't like homosexuals for this and that. The goal is still the same. Showtime wants to educate their viewers about the gay community and show them what is really going on despite what everyone thinks. The show's characters display actual feelings that only MTV's Real World was able to achive. In many scenes, they are trying to form an underlining connection with the straight community like with having a baby artificily (one of the lesbian characters has a baby that was a combination of her egg and one of the gay characters sperm) and demanding that that child should be able to spend time with both parents. Similar to divorced parents and those want-to-be parents that can't get pregnet?
