I am desprete for a good mans opinion on Civilisation Rev !
I do love my Age of Empires?
I know and im sorry for not accepting the invite.
Well, it is much more complex that Age of Empires in some respects and it is less complex in some respects. For example you chose a civilisation (German first play through) and you have your capital city (Berlin). You have 4 ways to win, making it slightly easier that Age of Empires.
The game is turn based to you have a turn to select what you are building or training, and in the same move you can select units to travel to other civilisations and crush them.
The combat is much easier due to it being very basic. You select a unit/army and move them to another civlisation's units. Then attack and either you will win with some casualties, win completely, the enemy wins with casualties or the enemy wins completely.
The way they have done all of the ages is very impressive due tou your units upgradeing with the times. For example i was germany with Panzer Tank Army (3 Tanks) and i stumbled across the Aztecs who only had a few basic units. Weather this is because they suck i dont know. But the main way to improve your units is to research technologies. These can lead to planes, submarines, modern infanty, nukes and all sorts of destructive things. But these technologies can also be used to build more advanced wonders and buildings.
So all in all, one hell of a game for £40. A must buy for anyone, due to it being so easy to pick up in the begining.
Enjoy.
