FL Studio Piano Mastering Tips 2023-09-27 09:29:36

What's good newgrounds, was just wondering what are some good FL Studio plugins you like to use to master your piano sounds in songs. Ideally to give a clean sound and reduce any potential fuzz that can work its way into the mix. Some common ones I currently use are:

  • Fruity Parametric EQ 2
  • Fruity Reeverb 2
  • Fruity Delay 3
  • Soundgoodizer
  • Fruity Compressor

I'm pretty new to mixing/mastering my own music so I'd appreciate any suggestions or what you've found worked well in the past. If you feel like sharing some of your music to give an example of the final sound you achieved I'd love to hear it as well. Thank you everyone! <3

On anything piano, I use Fruity Parametric EQ 2 + Fruity Multiband Compressor on bright preset.

On the EQ, I turn down the harsher mids, I turn down the basses, I up the air. It's a strategy that has given me a bright, forward sounding piano in most of my solo mixes (note that I use the default 1920s Steinway piano in Soundpaint).

Here it is in action:

And with more going on:

I really like the sound of your songs thank you for sharing, your piano has a wonderful bright sound! Haven't done much with the fruity multiband compressor thanks for that I can't wait to try it out next time chance I get to work on music. And just for reference (and in case anyone uses the same) I typically use 'Autograph The Grand' by Spitfire Audio LABS

Thank you 🙏🏽

Oh, and another thing: feel free to use reverb to taste, some pieces call for drier mixes and some wetter. What would be a good thing to practise is to EQ the reverb track as well, reducing any unwanted frequencies that could be boosted by the 'verb, and boosting your air.

Boosting your air is a given in most pieces except if you want it to sound submerged or coming from in a closet or something.
