To be fair, most competitive scenes are toxic.

I suppose that is true. When I return to the competitive scene after a few months and just want to play an archetype that isn't meta but is fun nonetheless and I ask questions to a group of people on how to improve my deck and the answer I get back is "Your deck sucks, just copy mine and forget about it" without any further explanation, it makes me wonder why I'm even bothering. I like to be open-minded with card choices and deckbuilds after all.

Shit game and worse fandom I have ever met

but some channels are amazing

PlayStationTrophies.

It never used to be toxic, but mods got a big head and we weren't really allowed to post anything since it got more SJW's over time. I think the fall-off point was from 2016 onwards.

I remember I posted an "In Memoriam" thread which I thought would help clear up clutter around the forums since there were many RIP threads to individual users, but it got shut down immediately without any response as to why. Not just that, but the mod decided to insult me for starting the thread.

Yep. Just another place where if you disagree with someone, you're cancelled. I ask someone why they thought JK Rowling was transphobic there, and they blocked me immediately. They said, "Nobody likes that Harry Potter shit" and I responded to them by showing them the stats on Google that shows that most people like Harry Potter, an undeniable fact, and they blocked me.

Tho i wasn't rlly in it, the FNF community.

So when I was 14 - 19 years old I used to RP as some Homestuck characters, which was a huge thing over on Tumblr, e.g people would make blogs writing as that character and others would reblog and respond like their character. I thought this was a great way to meet new people and mostly to get better at writing.

Well, a sub-group in the RP community at the time had made a sex slave RP alternate universe, they were recruiting for RPers to join the 'universe'. Where in said universe the HS canon kids were to be enslaved and entrusted into the guardians care (like the human kids had Bro Strider, Dad Egbert, etc and the troll kids had people like the condesce and GHB etc). The kids and troll kids who were 13 in canon would be passed around weekly on a slave rotation ring where they would proceed to be sexually abused by whoever 'owned' them that week.

Due to me being absolutely disgusted by this when I found out, I wrote a post saying that it's vile and those who associate with these kinds of people are enabling them. It kind of backfired on me, as when I posted that it turned out 90% of the people I had interacted with were also creepy weirdos also partaking in the AU on the downlow and it created a massive target on my back, keep in mind my age at the time.

Unfortunately for me they would begin to harass me across platforms, I have one person in particular who was very popular in the HS fandom stalk my blogs, going to the point of staking out whoever I interacted with and trying to quickly befriend them so I was left without any friends.

During the time I was still there after that, I tried my best to keep calling it out, just to bring awareness to new comers, nobody else was doing it. I found out they had created sexual fetish blogs sexualising eating disorders as well, it got to the point where this group of sickos were accusing me of being a cult leader, because I had friends who had experienced eating disorders also educating how harmful fetishization of ED's was.

Whoever was new in the community I tried my best to steer them away from the people I knew were vile, I didn't want them to have the same experience I did because it really wasn't good for my mental health to be told that rping incest and rape was just 'a means of people expressing themselves' and that promoting eating disorders was 'body positivity'. A lot of the new comers to the RP side of HS fandom were similar ages to the protagonists so this fanbase has always had a younger audience due to the young age of the protags, and it had become an incredibly dangerous place to enjoy it with as I had experienced.

One situation was awful, one of the newcomers ended up being baited into unfriending me and going with that group of people. As soon as they were baited, the people who mass cancelled me then began slowly ghosting them. This group of people were not only disgusting but using people, who were also teenagers as pawns to spy on another teenager. That person later re-added me just to say they were given promises of having fun RP's but ended up being ghosted and being told to spy on me, I wished them the best as I wasn't sure if they were still in contact with the others.

As time went on they still stalked me, I had friends block me out of nowhere and it turned out to be their doing. Like I said before these people had massive followers in the HS fandom and they still do. So many people blindly worship them because of their contributions to the fandom and it pains me because I know how disgusting they truly are. These people would sexualise eating disorders, stalk and mentally abuse young fans for their sickening means of spying.

These people are in a lot of power in the fandom, they can choose who participate in fan events and run a lot of things which help creators in the fandom gain an audience. When I was a growing artist and were on good terms with them they even tried to slyly imply that they could get me noticed. Well, a few years later and I'm not recognised as a big artist, my art doesn't even reach 500 followers but I like to think I kept my dignity, even if it meant losing out.
Oh god, remember the "bucket incident" video?

I swear, I would always hear someone say "Vriska Did Nothing Wrong" and I would get really mad. As someone who has somewhat read Homestuck enough to know about the trolls, That statement is clearly false.

For context for those who haven't read Homestuck: Vriska is a character in Homestuck, she is basically a manipulative bitch who thinks she is more powerful than others (from what I've read). In the story, she has done multiple fucked up things such as paralyze someone, blind someone, and fed a bunch of innocent people to a spider creature. She is somewhat of a controversial character due to her actions.

Also, this is a dumb question but do I have to understand everything about Homestuck if I were to read all of it?

As someone who likes the Alternian Serkets I know all about the crap the Serket's have done lol. I find their stories to be the most complex out of the characters. Most people use that line as more of a meme at this point, as she certainly is not a good person.

That being said, I would go as far as to say none of the trolls are good people and you also have to keep in mind they're 13 years old living under tyrannical Darwinism. Karkat verbally abuses Nepeta for being autistic, Tavros is also an asshole to Jade in particular but their abrasiveness is drowned out by them being babied by the fandom. Without spoiling too much, every character is awful in their own ways, there appears to be a vocal few defending Vriska because if we take characters like Eridan, who is basically a walking neo-nazi the fandom turns a blind eye to it. Vriska gets the most hate because if she was a guy the fandom would've loved her. I'd imagine Vriska's obsessive nature with putting her 'friends' through the woodchipper is to make them come out of it stronger, and her ancestor being a pirate reflects her desire to have a strong crew as she's obsessed with recreating Mindfang's legacy as it was a successful one, Alternia is like an ancient roman battle arena but if it was an entire planet, so strength, competitiveness and the strive to survive is strong in every troll, being abrasive is almost like baring your fangs to ward away predators that's why it feels like none of the trolls are good people.

You don't need to understand it all, there's a ton of things that happened within it so of course it's impossible to remember all of it. If you want to know more about HS then you can play a game called Hiveswap as it's about a human swapping planets with an alien and walking through Alternia. It could be a great with to learn about it without having to read it (or see Vriska lmfao) (and you can play the game without being spoiled about the webcomic as they're different stories)

I know there is a lot of elitism from South Park's creators themselves who don't think that Family Guy is a form of a comedy. I personally believe it is, because it being semi-random is what makes it funny in the first place as life can be somewhat random.

But I see what you mean: a show that cynically makes fun of everybody instead of laughing with them like Family Guy does, is going to attract a lot of toxic people.

PVZ GW, they're mentally insane because everyone is literally a toddler, one of my all time favorite games, but since it's a multiplayer driven game with bare bones single player content, I couldn't play it anymore.

BFN despite it's bad rep, is pretty good, mainly because I can actually play it alone without 7 year olds scurrying at every corner.

Fucking hate the multiplayer maps though, they're so small and lack any depth.

Okay I exaggerated, there are def cool people, but it's hard to play the games when at least three people play as Super Commandos or Electro Peas.

Also the abundunce of cheaters on the PC version of GW2 (never paying for online to play a single game on ps4)

OMORI. I saw the game on YouTube and I always wanted to play it. I eventually got it in March of 2023 on Steam, still haven't gotten around at finishing it. And if anyone's gonna throw the game's spoilers at me, oh don't worry. They won't be effective as YouTube spoiled the game at the very start.

Most of the memes in the community aren't even funny, except for some which are really rare.

You want to know what is the most mentally insane fandom I've seen? Off the top of my head, (yes there's more I'm probably forgetting or worse) it's The Loud House. Oh my god. Don't get me started, most of the fan-fictions are the characters getting bullied and injured in the cheesiest way possible. And a lot of it really screams r/im14andthisisdeep

You know the Omori fandom? Yeah, well, calling it insane can be well applicable to other games like Undertale or Homestuck. But I legitimately saw several online flamewars be fought over Omocat's past tweets referencing pedophilia when she was still at her 20's. The source drama in-question was really just stuff like "If I was a Drifloon I'd take children and fly away with them." I dunno about that, but it looks more so like really off-key jokes.

Sometimes when fandoms get big, a lot of people start getting riled up with the growing drama, and they'll go out for blood, looking for more excuses to make more drama. This includes taking things the original game's creator said or did, and ripping it up. The FNF Developers were targeted, Toby Fox was targeted, Scott Cawthon was targeted. Even if there were reasons for criticizing people, fandoms shouldn't use it to destroy the very thing they stand for, at least how I'm trying to put it.

Funny how the people always promoting witch-hunts end up getting exposed for the same shit or worse. Vaush could've gotten help for his issues, but instead decided to project them on Twitch and Twitter.
