So what brought you into the BBS and newgrounds? (Or brought you back?)

You know, I really wanted to ask this question, Especially to answer with mine over why I'm here, And honestly I would love to know what you brings you over to where you are now and being an active user here?

For me, Its kind of a long story that I will try to make short but, Basically I usually felt lonely most of the time, And I didn't socialize with much people, I used to be in communities like the smash community on twitter, But they all end up dying in drama, Communicating with people on social media is it that easy really too, It would feel weird to come out of nowhere and say hello, And trying to talk on discord servers is hell but.

Cue few days before the new year. I decided to check back on newground because really browsing newgrounds was a tradition at this. But, I was curious about the forums, And I decided to lurk there for a while, I expected after fnf's popularity, Things wouldn't be the same, But I was sort of wrong, The community there still retains its old spirit, And even better its more bearable than any place on social media. Its really easy to talk to everyone here for some reason and so on. It just felt great

Yeah I think forums are the best way to socialzie really. No matter how old it is, Its way more superior than writing small text on an image.

And then, I ask this, Say traveler what had brought you here in the first place?

I just got tired of it all really. Most of the internet is very jaded but at the same time sharing a mindset like that can be immensely detrimental to your mental health. At the same time, I'm not narcissistic enough to manipulate people and use others to get what I want, so it's not like anything will happen really.

I guess I'll just stick around here for a while, and if things work out, I may stay here for a longer time. Just be mindful that I'm quite nutty

I found NG from a website called flashportal.com that was just full of reuploaded NG content. I accidentally clicked the tankman preloader on a random flash thinking it was a preloader minigame and got sent here. And I've never left this place because it has decades worth of content.

No idea what in particular drew me into the BBS. I probably just wanted to get off the dozen shitty invisionfree forums I was using at the time.

What brought me back to Newgrounds is just how unrestricted the site still feels and how comparatively small it is. It feels like the one place I can express myself without being pressured to give away every bit of my identity to it or being overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people on it, while everything I do is lost in a sea of content. It's the one place I believably thought I could gain any kind of following and friends on. Certainly, it's proven to be true so far. I also do just love the Art Portal and am always browsing it.

What brought me to the BBS was an overall similar sentiment, but I have always lowkey regretted missing out on the golden age of internet forums too. This forum is the closest I've seen to a perfect balance between genuine discussion and deranged shitposting. Many places focus so much on the discussion that they're not fun to use, as everyone is trying to out argue each other. If they're not that, then they're so consumed by shitposting that everything that's posted is either obvious bait or people getting mad at said bait. Can't get a good discussion going.

I just like BBS/forums, they're the most relaxing way to talk to people online IMO, and way better for ongoing discussions or even just browsing that real time chats like discord. I came to NG from deviantArt last year because that place keeps getting worse when you thought they already hit rock bottom, the forums are part of what drew me here. I don't just want to post stuff and look at it, I also want a nice comfy online place to hang out at.

they never did anything with it. their company blogs IIRC were saying something about exploring blockchain tech, but it never happened.all they did was talk about it, sell some silly chatroom stickers with "blocks", and then proceed to shut down those chatrooms, and fire almost everyone. it's absurd what happened.

you might still be able to find old posts complaining about it in the locked down Kongregate forums, if you're really interested in the madness that brought it down.
