Neocities has a lot of interesting shit, it's basically a revival of Geocities - completely free, too, if you feel like getting your own.
I might have a site on there, too, but that's not what I'm linking, so I'm technically within the rules. Suck it, nerds.

Whole lotta love for Neocities in this thread, excellent!!!
The basic HTML revolution is certainly just around the corner!
Back with more :)

The entertaining version of Wikipedia, some articles are very funny!
Checks HTML code for errors, though it doesn't spot all, which is very annoying when it doesn't spot a simple typo that breaks everything.
Cool site for seeing how things looked like back in the day, I was surprised some websites looked more like games then!
Quizzes and explanations of things about the French language, looks pretty old. At the top there are links to other languages but pretty much everything is in French, I failed pretty hard on a quiz about English because I didn't understand what the French meant.
Info about Ips and domain names, not 100% accurate on location though, it says I'm in Africa..
Very useful information for learning how French words conjugate.

Yeah, web design used to be so much more diverse and fun back then. I'm hoping we can get back to that soon with services like Neocities being a viable alternative to template-site services like Wix.

I really miss skeuomorphism. Maybe I should take another trip to Neocities and consider making something maybe since I hear a lot of good things about it, and I hear it's free as well!

Too bad trends are very fickle things. Even if Skeuomorphism would make a comeback, do you honestly thing it would actually LOOK OK on our modern computer monitors compared to the ones used back then?

You're the second one to make that joke and it was just barely funny the first time, gonna have to do better than that.

I don't see why it would look worse on modern monitors, having better capabilities than older ones. Some gloss and shadows to make things look less dull wouldn't hurt. Wouldn't you say Windows 7 looks more appealing than Windows 10? Sure, maybe some flat design is good sometimes to minimize distraction, but the amount of flatness in Windows 10 makes it very unappealing to me.

pssshhh..
Unsure if this one really counts as a site, but give the Super Dimension Fortress a look.
It's a public-access UNIX system that's been going since 1987, you can sign up for free, and they give all their users free webspace and gopherspace (Yes, Gopher's still a thing).
https://www.heavensgate.com/ Everyone knows about this one.

I can't believe there's still two people running that website just waiting for the next comet to show up and take them to Nike Fantasy Wonderland.
Remember YTMND?
It's back, and better than ever!
Also, holy guacamole... This thread it's full of gems!
Here's one...
As long as you're not an enormous wuss who's too scared to click on it!!!
a site dedicated to music made in pxtone collage.
dead site dedicated to movies made in microsoft 3d movie maker.
Ninja website (Only click if you're ready to get pumped.)
"A website devoted to documenting and preserving the history of the imageboard/*chan culture/scene." if you have an interest in internet history.
dnb, house, garage, trance and techno's (not all) subgenres. about them and their origins + examples.
This time I've found some cool ones.
Lots of stuff about space and things. Includes a planetarium, 3D solar system, and more.
Interactive guide to electronic music, altough the info is biased it's still fun to read. Believe it or not I found this site as an article on Wikipedia.
https://minecraftcalculator.com
Not very cool but has some simple math calculations for Minecraft, I found this on Neocities :D
Now this one, this one's a masterpiece.
J- Just click the link, I can't even begin to explain the glory that is Mr. Boop.
Last one I ever remember using and really enjoying some years back was Stumbleupon - completelly random sfw websites. Great thread
Pretend not to care about anything, but be bothered by everything.
You may be fast on the roads but it's no use on the track.
