i'm doing the sprite draw thing again

here's my board:

i'm hoping to do a full set of 25 like i did last year and so far have done 3 of these. i'm going to be doing them in reading order, unlike last year, where i did them in order of inspiration.

here's what i done went and did so far:

i expect to have this done by sunday, and i hope to have it done by saturday. friday i think is the earliest i could possibly manage. i will be updating this thread as i go.

also here's another one i did before deciding the pastel wasn't jiving with my style properly

strange toothy monster thing. this took way too long because i kept flip-flopping on my interpretation. there's a lady in a dress, a couple of frogs, and a dog in there if you look for them.

also row one is done.

spooky fish. would've done this faster but i got caught up in a conversation about prog rock.

Aw, thanks. Though I can't take credit for the colours since they've basically been lifted from the original sprites.

eye. there wasn't much to work with. i actually finished this in the time period one might refer to as "yesterday" meaning at 12:20 am or the like, but my internet wasn't working at the time.

smooth-faced bug thing. this one's a pretty loose interpretation and i'm not sure how much i like it but hey here it is.

cephalopod with shell or something idk. this was gonna be a turtle, but something happened, and it stopped being a turtle.

been working on the finale most of the day. it's not done yet because, in brief, it's huge. hopefully tomorrow but i can't even guarantee that.

beyond this post, i will stop updating this thread until the final bit is done, but just a bit of clarification.

illustrator lets one see how many lines are selected or in a group or whatever, and this is a useful metric for the amount of detail in any given drawing for me. probably my most detailed drawing ever had about 55,000 lines, but that's off-topic.

basically, i'm on the phase of this final one where i start adding extra lines that serve as a sort of texture/clothing pattern/what have you, and am on about 450 lines so far, and i would generously describe this as being a fifth of the way done. the previous entry in this series with the most texture/pattern lines was the hooded triclops, which has about 370, though that one was done in its own special way anyway so many of those lines i would say don't count. basically, the last one is big, and i'm really intent on not sacrificing detail because of this factoid, so that's why it's taking so long.

i don't think i'm finishing this today, though maybe i will tomorrow, but if not tomorrow i'm going to be taking a little break anyway for an art challenge with a deadline on the 31st.
