Singers & Voice Actors Needed for Unraveling Magicians Audio Drama

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
Unraveling Magicians is a new musical originally written for live theatre. It will premiere as a staged reading in front of a live audience on September 23rd, 2016, and will also be an entry in the 2017 "Search for New Musicals" competition through New Musicals, Inc. based in Los Angeles, CA. This casting call is for unpaid, credited roles in an audio dramatization of the musical, which will be released via Soundcloud and YouTube in the style of a serial radio drama.
SYNOPSIS
Adapted from a medieval Welsh folktale, the story is about a magical and royal family thrown into turmoil when a curse is cast upon one of their own. In their attempt to lift the curse, the family must resurface old wounds and finally acknowledge how deeply dysfunctional they have become. Despite their distraction of power, the revelation of secrets, and a little wayward magic, is it possible for the family to remain intact?
THOSE INTERESTED IN AUDITIONING
- MUST submit their audition through Casting Call Club.
- Must demonstrate quality recording capability (clean, crisp sound; no noise; etc.)
- Must enunciate clearly in audition- Capability to work with Google Drive
- Excellent singing voice and music reading ability (for singing characters)
- Musical theatre experience is a plus
- Preferably able to use Skype
CHARACTERS
ARIANRHOD
Middle-aged, female
An impulsive, but well-intended, female magician who has the unique gift of premonitions. Voice type: Alto singing voice. Brassy and bold, but can also be tender and vulnerable.
THE BARD
Any age, male
A traveling minstrel and the unreliable narrator of the story.Voice type: Non-singing role. Jovial and upbeat. Great comedic timing.
BLODEUWEDD
Young adult, female
A young woman magically created from flowers. Due to complications with the spell, Blodeuwedd is slightly naïve, though eager to learn.Voice Type: Mezzo-soprano singing voice with belt. Naïve, girlish, and full of wonder.
DYLAN
Young adult, male
A merman who spent his childhood without a family. Assists Arianrhod with her devious plans, but develops friendships with Llewellyn and Blodeuwedd along the way.Voice Type: tenor singing voice with rock belt. Spunky, gruff, and sarcastic.
GOEWIN
Middle-aged, female
The barren queen and much younger wife of Math. Acts as surrogate mother to both Llewellyn and Blodeuwedd, and was previously good friends with Arianrhod.Voice type: Soprano singing voice. Motherly, sweet, kind.
GWYDION
Middle-aged, male
The level-headed voice of reason among the cast. Helps raise Llewellyn. Was once a great magician, but has been forced to renounce the use of magic.Voice type: Tenor/high baritone singing voice. Even tone, fatherly, gentle.
LLEWELLYN
Young adult, male
A young man who begins his life without a name, the ability to use weapons, or love and marry due to a curse that was placed on him as a baby.Voice type: Tenor or baritone singing voice. Moody and a little bit whiny.
MATH
Senior, male
The regent king who, terrified of losing the rights to the throne, has manipulated and used the other members of his family.Voice Type: Bass-baritone singing voice. Booming and authoritative.
RHIANNON
Middle-aged, female
An aristocrat from a neighboring kingdom who was falsely accused of murder and thus must endure a peculiar punishment.Voice type: Non-singing. Great comedic timing. Character voice.
ENSEMBLE
Any age, any gender
Looking for 12 singers of various voice types to sing in the ensemble of the cast, some of whom will have solo singing lines and background spoken lines.
