Oh man, so many projects! I'll try to muster the will to produce something good this year!

I'm hoping to pump out something awesome for this, but Dreams of Splendor needs to be finished first! :o I hope I'm not digging myself a hole here.

I feel the same way :/ Luckily as soon as dreams of splendor is finished, we have at least two weeks to do this one.

Ufgh. I kind of want to try this, but I think my knowledge of classical/orchestra isn't very good. Plus, I'll be really drained after Dreams of Splendor+other projects going on at the same time. Or maybe I won't be drained. Or maybe...it's three in the morning.

The funny part will be if bassfiddlejones creams this MAC too.

Why orchestral theme again?

it's tradition for every January MAC to be orchestral.

and a NAC, and one by Bosa, all with pretty much identical rules...

Are rhodes considered an orchestral instrument?

No, but you can use it a LITTLE, as long as the majority of your song is orchestral in nature.

Now. This might be a little difficult question. I want to have a section of the song played entirely on pipe organ.
Some people count it as an orchestral instrument, some don't. What do you think, BrokenDeck?

Same rule as that applies to the Rhodes.

I disagree: church/pipe organs are 100% an orchestral instrument - if they weren't, I don't think there would be such a huge repertoire spanning back to Bach.

It is most definitely an orchestral instrument.

Just ask these guys.

I guess as long as it's not mostly an organ solo ^__^ it's good to go then.

I don't think an organ (including a pipe/church organ) is an orchestral instrument but it can play with an orchestra

Quick question... Are we allowed to use any effects like echo or reverb?

I don't see why not. Real orchestra stages have natural reverb and ambiances. i don't see why your song shouldn't try to emulate that.

Well, the song I am working on now has heavy echo emphasized on some drums, it really adds to the atmosphere of the song, but I'm not sure how realistic you want the pieces to sound.

They're copyrighted

Holy shit....guess I was out of the loop on this one. I definitely remember planning to judge this like half a year back. Oh well, I can compete instead and maybe scrap a top three and buy a t-shirt that fits over my fat ass stomach.
