If you want to get ever-so-slightly philosophical, in Fallout 3, you were a "prisoner" of the isolationist ideals of Vault 101, and you were "set free" by Amata in the beginning of the game.

I sort of included Fallout 3 in that whole prisoner set free cliché. But yeah, Bethesda has some weird prison fetish.

Shit game; amazing experience. That should be on the cover. Sub-par graphics; intoxicating atmosphere. Lousy gameplay; fun game to play.

I enjoyed the gameplay, it needed a bit if tuning up still but I liked how the combat worked, I liked how interactions with people work, I liked most of the mechanics. To me that more than qualifies as good gameplay.

This would be dumb it's fine to bring characters from past games but not the main character it just doesn't work in this type of game where they have multiple endings, you can bring back a not so important one but a main one no... unless they did a mass effect thing and carried over all your FO3 choices but its just annoying if just bring it back without much mention to everything you did in the last game ...
"it's like saying hey cool you see those choices you made well they where wrong here are the right choices and the real ending."

Dunno if this has already been said or not, but I read before that Bethesda fought to get the rights for Fallout, and the original company even wanted it back and took legal action against Bethesda after the success of Fallout 3. But Bethesda won the lawsuit, so nothing happened but the creators and designers stated that they have no plans at stopping anytime soon and trying to make a franchise out of it.
Everybody wants places like New York, or China though.

Maybe London would be cool? California would certainly be interesting.
L.A Noire did it right so...who knows what the future holds.

London would be a cool setting. Fallout took alot of my time back when it came out. Fallout Vegas did certainly not. So a setting more like Fallout3 would be awesome. But who know what the future holds.

People have been posting about seeing Bethesda employees taking pictures around Boston.

Do they walk around with "BETHESDA" in bold letters on their shirts? There are thousands of tourists in Boston walking around taking pictures,

I really enjoyed fallout 3 but Im reminded that they wernt the same people who made the first two fallout games and that their take on the lore is much different so I cant help but feel I aint playing a proper fallout game.

but who cares, wait till it comes out and see how good it is then.

True. Bethesda made Fallout 3 and New Vegas. But New Vegas was not my type of setting.

Bethesda only published New Vegas, it was developed by Obsidian Entertainment, which has some former Black Isle members (the studio that made Fallout 1 and 2)

Yes, because California is certainly a setting we've never seen before in a Fallout game.

Better then DC...

Fallout 3 was a great game. Fucking loved it, especially the bandits and the zombie radiation things whose names escape me (haven't played fallout in ages). I really liked the side missions too, like the one with the cannibal town and then you'd pick the lock of their shed and find human meat there, that was fucking sick. And the Combat, I like how the enemies scaled and the massive mutants. I'm not a graphics whore so I don't care if it isn't the single most realistic thing I've ever seen, but that being said, I hope they got a much better engine for this one.

I loved New Vegas too, but I lost the damn disk and never got to finish it, I was playing Hardcore all the way through, the feel of being in the west is just my cup of tea too (or cup of dark black coffee boiled up in a tin can on a campfire in the Mojave). Thing I liked most was the ability to create things at stations, I love love love that kind of ability and I hope to see its return in Fallout 4 and the companions options and how factions worked. I really have to get that game again.

As for FO4 itself, I'm glad Bethesda is taking another swing at it as we head into this new gen of gaming. I almost wish they'd take this whole other year to make it look and feel the best it can but I'm not sure I can wait that long.

In fact, if I had to pick a setting for Fallout 4, I would undoubtedly choose NYC.

The city only made up a 4th of the map. But I don't get the whole fascination with cities. Everyone wants everything to be placed in them but then when they're actually they're well boring. They don't tend to vary in color and each block looks like the other one. This was especially true in Fallout 3, it was so goddamn boring and confusing going through the city. The tunnels in particular sucked ass.

Um fallout 2 was in large part amazing because of the wide variety or areas.

I would like the game to be in China, seeing how the enemy survives would be cool.

I'd be pretty excited if Fallout 4 was actually announced. I loved Fallout 3 (so much so I just brought it again) and New Vegas was okay, not quite as good but still enjoyable. In my opinion I'd love to see a new story set further North in the colder, snow covered areas, maybe even Canada.

Would not want. To me, Fallout is a single player experience that is made solely by the fact that it's you against the world. It's a world you want to get lost in, co-op would put a big dent in that.

i dont know how many times i've beaten the previous fallout games. I played all, even the pc versions. I truly am a fanatic about fallout i cant wait for #4. I do hope they add a little more options in customizing your character. It's becoming more of the same in the customization area. What do you think of Detroit being the new scene?
