What the hell kind of VST would you need for these type of synths? That shit is crazy.

Greetings! Breed here to spoil your fancy.

That shit is not crazy. Any regular synth could give you similar results. Sounds more or less just like a relatively clean and punchy saw tooth with some light distortion and some pitch effects.

So the answer is.....almost every kind of synth.

You sure you're talking about the part at 1:15? o_o. I can't even tell what I'm hearing. There is just a crazy amount of synths there and it's hard for me to decipher what's being used..

You mean the part with only two things going on?

Yup, that's nothing particularly novel.

But of course I'm jaded so I lack the same degree of revelation that you must be having.

Why two things? :S

Because only two things are happening.

Duh.

The bass and the melody is all that's happening besides the drums. Anything else you're hearing as uncanny attention to detail is an illusion due to heavily octaved synths and the like.

Ahh, so that was a bass. I had a hard time telling what it was. Wouldn't have guessed..

I am so very glad I could be of service.

But yeah, it's just a saw wave with distortion and stuff on it. I could whip that up in a minute with Massive.

Hm.. Is it just me or is there a Tapestop on the bass? I can hear like a VROOM kind of slowing down sound that reminds me of a tape-stop. Probably not a very good analogy but I hope you will get what I meant.!

There might be, but thats just a time and pitch modulation. There are free tape stop plugins and most daws allow time and pitch automation. Nothin too shfancy.

When you talk complex sounds, you are more so getting into granular synthesis and resythesis, vocoding/formant work, fm synthesis modulation, combinations of higher caliber and/or vintage/hardware effects and possibly a good deal of recording(which is entirely its own beast).

As others have said, I expect that is just a regular synth. It's a shame Native Instruments discontinued Kore Player because it had a couple of really awesome synths, one I think would fit that sound perfectly if you played around with it a bit first.
I still use Kore Player actually since I got it before it was taken off their site. :P

Good luck finding your sound. :)

WELL, from what i can tell, the guy used massive.
there was a pitch bend equipped bass with a square lead probably detuned with a saw on a second oscillator.
then the rest is mixing!

Sounds like a few Nexus presets to me.

Not sure if I want to dish out $30 for a plugin with only 2 knobs. Then again, I've heard some good things about it. Is it really that worth investing in?

To be honest any kind of synth could make that if programmed correctly.....
maybe put some reeverb and distortion and that would make it fatter

Not sure, haven't tried it myself. The amount of knobs doesn't really dictate the potential of any device though... and I've heard nothing but good things.

Plus they supposedly use it on their own tracks... and frankly I love their stuff. lol
