If it's your first time re-enlisting in the Marines, no matter what rank you are, you get station of preference. The problem is the Marines Corps are downsizing so Marines are getting kicked out or just out altogether. The only bonus/incentive Marines get now are to chose duty stations, they don't get a bonus check. With his rank, he does get choice so the reason I'm 'whining' is because it's somewhat unfair. I know the military is never fair.

It's just supposedly all his stations are "full" and Okinawa is always in need of bodies. He just got bad luck.

Also, just because he doesn't like traveling and likes to live in a bubble like me doesn't mean he's stupid choices. You're pretty ignorant if just because someone doesn't like traveling or getting stationed in a shitty place means they're making stupid choices.

I wanted to get opinions on everyone's view of moving to Japan but I wanted to emphasize on the area I'll be living at and that it's not just hurr durr Japan. I'm not bitching about Stereotypes, everything I've been told is from people that actually live/lived on base. It's well known Military and Americans over there are hated.

Plus, I've already lived on a base for a year that's basically in the middle of nowhere so it's pretty isolated with nothing but Military and their families. I've learned first hand from trying to make friends with the wives out here that they really are whores. Half the wives I met, have cheated or were cheating on their husbands. If not that, they were fawning of having babies or already had babies. It's hard to make friends when you're disgusted with cheaters and are also infertile. I don't see my life here now or if I moved to Japan would be "hard" it'd just suck. I don't understand how some people can take lightly moving so far from friends/family and not having real options to go home to visit. I know I'm an adult and should "grow up" but holy fuck, that makes no sense in a situation like this.
