Ngadm 2011: Round 1

Welcome to the official NG Audio Deathmatch 2011 thread for the First Round of the competition! It's take a while, but it's here! Haven't heard about the NGADM? Go here to get all the information you need about this massive contest.

Now firstly, before any of this can get started, READ THE RULES. No seriously go here to read them, they're very important and they've been updated with things we might have missed in the Auditions Thread, plus, if you read the rules, you can also read about all the cool prizes that you can win. That's right! PRIZES!

Also, the audition phase for this competition is now CLOSED. Yes, this means that you CANNOT sign up now. It is too late to do so, so you'll just have to try again next year.

Now to get this show started.

First off, remember that this contest is a knockout competition. It started with the audition phase, during which we had an astonishing 110 auditions. These auditions were all carefully listened to by our panel of six judges: Supersteph54, djInTheDark, FatKidWitAJetPak, RobinDB, Morph94 and ToastedToastyToast, who each sent me a list of 32 nominations. Also, since I'm a nice person who has nothing better to do, I also added my own list of nominations to the pool. These nominations were then counted by an automated system which I programmed way back before the competition started, and the list of 32 artists who have passed into the first round has been written below in no particular order:

Similar to last year, we had a lot of different genres and styles this time round, including Trance, House, 8-Bit, Techno, Classical, Hip-Hop, Heavy Metal, Ambient, Drum'n'Bass, Dubstep and Miscellaneous. We're really satisfied with the quality of submissions in general and it was exhausting to make a decision about the best 32 artists. Also, remember that even if you didn't pass, there's always next year since this competition is annual. Just keep improving and next year you'll have a bigger chance to make it in.

Secondly, since this is a knockout competition, each person who passed auditions will be given a random competitor for each round, and the pairings for this round are listed below:

Remember that you have 2 weeks to make a track, which means that by the 14th August you'll have to have a track finished, submitted to NG and posted in this thread! To be more exact, you have till the 14th, 1:00 PM EST. There will then be a 5-day judging period where the judges will determine the 16 people who will make it to the next round, and sometime on the 20th of August you should get the results posted in a new thread entitled "NGADM 2011: Round 2".

PHEW. That was some judging. Really glad that I got to hear such amazing submissions, and don't forget that if you didn't make it through, you can always PM me and be a backup judge. We'll be needing a big team of backup judges to cover for us if a main judge can't make it!

Good luck to those who made it, and tough luck to those who didn't. All the judges enjoyed each submission and it was crazy hard to choose our results.

Remember everyone, there's always next year for whoever didn't make it, and PM me if you still want to take part in the NGADM but as a backup judge. Some of you were really close to making it in too, but don't forget that there were over 100 auditions, so it's extremely tough to get in.

I tried to not be genre cliche and choose a wide range of music, but I personally felt the classical tracks were lacking... I just dont get the same feelings from a midi piano, you know? Anyway, here is my list:

Yeah well... I guess it wont really be a problem since i can always do a special mix for the contest with a lower bit rate... Since i do have an EP due. But its all good. Its no big deal

Yes it would. If your brother can sing or voice act, feel free to let him add to your song with his vocal talents because that isn't against the rules, but if he does anything else to contribute to the track and change/alter/add to it, then it isn't allowed I'm afraid.

The problem this year was that literally everyone had a fantastic track. It was stupendously difficult choosing the list of 32 competitors and in fact me and steph had to decide quite a number of ties in the end.

Totally understandable. No hard feelings at all! This actually works out for the better since I need to focus on releasing a few songs under the label I'm signed to.
