Looking at the game market, I'm actually suprised to see more platforming and side-scrollers for pc. Since the new consoles are coming out next year, I really don't want to buy new one right away. Instead, I rather work on my pc set-up. I don't know exactly what I need, but my specs are:
Model: Inspiron 531
Processor CPU: 1 x AMD Sempron(tm) Processor LE-1250
RAM: 2048mb
Video Card NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
Total Disk Space: 149 GB

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Total disk space: 149GB

I suggest you increase it. You'll likely need an additional 15GB more, you never know.

While your spec's are better than mine, I would still try to stay in the indie gaming scene for a while. You might be able to get away with Magicka, it's an awesome game.

I don't understand what you're trying to ask; you're not going to be able to upgrade that significantly if that's what you're getting at. If you're just looking for things that might run on a set-up with your specs check here.

I'm willing to bet that your CPU socket won't seat anything produced in the past 5 years or so and there's even the chance you're still rocking USB 1.0. You're going to need a new motherboard, ergo a new computer. Perhaps you could salvage the RAM for a new build but even then 2gb is below average for a "gaming" PC and RAM is relatively cheap either way. The majority of the price on a custom build comes from the CPU and GPU but if you have an OS and a set of periperals already you can still save a lot.

I'd elaborate further but I'm still not sure it wouldn't be meaningless; so, what exactly are you asking for?

I was just curious if I could use this PC for gaming, but it seems I can't. How much would it cost to build a new one?

You can build a decent rig for roughly $600 to $700 USD, depending on the parts I think. Maybe even cheaper.

Around $600 for a decent enough PC.
a 1TB Hard Drive for about $60-$70
4GB of DDR3 RAM which is 2x2GB's for $40
This case or something similar for $60-$70
A 500+ watt power supply for $60
A Radeon HD 5770 for $120-$130
AMD Phenom II x4 955 for $120
MSI 870a g54 motherboard for $100

This will run just about any current generation PC game with a reasonable framerate but don't be expecting to max out crysis or any heavy games.

Magicka has pretty high system requirements, he will definitely not be able to run it on THAT.

OMG, I can't imagine that PC can even be used for web browsing. My phone has better specs.
You WILL need a new one to do even the slightest bit of 3D gaming, or to be able to experience computing without enormous lag.

Oh, and the nForce isn't a graphics card. It's a network card. The GeForce is a network card.
Nvidia makes more than graphics cards, you know?

His processor card is of 2.2 Ghz, mine is 2.1; and I can pull of Magicka. Not very well, but I have no hicupps with the game.

Also a fun fact, Magicka will not run with an integrated GPU, I learned that the hard way.
