What do you think of this game currently? i still think its the most fully realized game to ever be released that couldn't even be surpassed with its sequels, also i believe this game has the best online dlc ever.

I think it's the same as the rest only shittyer graphics. They haven't really changed the game style any. I think everyone loves it so much because it was so amazing then and when the new ones come out you expect more but end up with pretty much the same thing. Because of this you hate all the new ones but love the old one. I bet if you went back and played COD4 for a month or 2 you would get bored the same as any of the new ones.

It was excellent. Am I the only one who got a very strong anti-war message from that game? Not just because of the nuke (which was fucking incredible, btw), but they somehow managed to properly show the chaos and horror of the battlefield, while still making the gameplay fun. It was immersive, and tricked you into thinking it was realistic. Some wonderfully sombre moments ("50000 people used to live here") along with incredible set pieces (in the same mission, hiding in the grass as the soldiers came across the field). There's a certain intangible quality about CoD 4. It was a quite mature games (and not in a herp derp blood n guts n swearwords way). Multiplayer was fun too, but not really my thing, so not much to say about that.
The sequel was a horrible piece of indulgent Michael Bay warporn made by 12 year old boys, for 12 year old boys. All of the controversial stuff like the airport attack and the multiple killing of player characters seemed hollow and had no impact at all, and all pretenses of realism were thrown out the window. And I'm fucking pissed off that they decided to make Soap into a roided-out, mohawked douchebag.
Haven't touched Black Ops, nor will I play MW3.

I got an anti-American sentiment really. Same from CnC Generals.

I wouldn't really call it anti-American, but I do like how it was not biased against any of the factions/nations. America wasn't commando world police that can do no wrong for a change, which was probably another sign of the maturity of the game.
It's very good that you brought this up. I had forgotten about this aspect of the game, but it was probably crucial to my enjoyment of it.

This is pretty much what MW2 was, there wasn't really an impact the characters made on you, or really anything interesting story wise. When any of them died, you didn't really care TBH, it had a shitty story.
Its overrated. People act like its the epitome of online FPS whenever the sequel is
mentioned. MW2 is a lump of shit but CoD4 really isn't that much better.
Campaign was godly though. I doubt a CoD game will ever be as amazing as that again.
In the sequels they completely ruined the feeling of seeing your comrades die. In CoD4 it
really shocked you. Now you come to expect it and go ''meh'' when they bite the dust
because they are just another generic soldier.
They keep trying to remake Gaz, Griggs and Price but they never will(and they even
ruined Soap by making him a mohawked douchebag in MW2).
There is so many amazing moments in that game. I'll never forget the two sniper
missions in Chernobyl, the ending on the bridge or, of course, doubling back to save
a fallen comrade only to die in a nuclear explosion.
There isn't a single moment in any other game in the series that stands out like these do.
i prefer this story to black ops and the second game. but the second game had more than the first and i played second story bout 4 times, and black ops once.
in short the first game story is the best, but the second more replay value.

Generals really didn't have any anti-american sentiment. The US wasn't the one with the Scuds or nuclear weapons...
good game dudes, but am i the only one that played cod2 online and still thinks about it time to time?
I've only played the demo version on PC. Quite fun.
In my opinion, CoD4 has an amazing campaign, multiplayer has its fair share of flaws but is still fun to play. It's my joint second favourite CoD game.
I don't play many Fps (except recently I've been playing a bit of Brink) but COD 4 was a really fun and memorable game and I really enjoyed it, almost as much as I enjoyed playing Crysis Warhead.

But they did have particle satellites. What I was saying in Generals the USA was in retreat and led China to form an alliance with Europe, shifting global power.
Back in the day there was nothing better than playing Mike Myers with all your mates.

Have you even played the USA campaign? This never happened, you're talking about the Chinese campaign. Obviously if you pick that campaign, the victor will be China, not USA. In the USA campaign, the Americans beat up the bad guys and live happily ever after.

Did you ever play the expansion?
