He's been through 14 seasons, he's been through about 5 or 6 leagues, all of which happens each year. So he should be about 15 or 16 years old. No, he's still... fucking... 10.

He's trapped in a vicious cycle. Nintendo uses their evil kid orientended voodoo sorcery to bind his age in an eternal youth until Pokemon ends... which it MAY NEVER!!
I don't hate anybody. even if you occasionally piss me off.
I am a huge brony.
Show-Based time. It's only been about two years for them.
It's a really basic concept on storytelling.
I think it is safe to say that Pokemon is one of Nintendo's main franchises, like Mario or Zelda, and so as long as those exist, so will pokemon.
But, it would be weird for a 6 year old to be playing a 20 something Ash when it comes to the 25th anniversary, so they will keep him 10 using the same magic they use to allow Mario to breathe in space.

Pfft, they've been fucking with Mario before he went into space. Remember he can breathe underwater and never die.

Let's face it, Nintendo games have not been known for their "realism" portion.

Not in Super Mario 64, I remember learning that the hard way, plenty of times
Becauase Ash can't evolve like his fellow pokemon.
Because Ash is really in a coma. He never really left that one trail outside of Pallet Town. Look it up.

The Japanese just adore him at that age like pedophiles without the desire to have sex with or molest him.
gorp
There's this thing...called fiction. Maybe you two should get acquainted.

Yeah, most likely this.
I've come to the conclusion that Ash's balls will never drop, nor will pokemon ever return to it's former glory. It'd also be awesome if Ash finally grew up and came to the conclusion that he needs to keep his pokemon from his previous journies in order to actually win the "Pokemon Master Tournament" or whatever, all the kid ever does is give away all his good pokemon and start from the beginning all over again (and again) *sigh*
I still can't believe he gave away Charizard....what a douche.
Ash has a genetic defect which gives him the appearance of a 10 year old at all times
Ash can never grow up because the life of a professor isn't nearly as exciting.
So? the Simpsons have been on since like...the late 80's. Bart and Lisa should be in their mid 30's by now and Homer should be dead.
There is a little something that we would like to call (cartoons don't go with the conspect of time) Meaning that no matter how old the series get's Ash will remain 10 unless the animaters decide to make it otherwise. Hell Ash right now would be 14 if they followed the flow of time.
video game forum, maybe?
Its cause Realism does not matter in Pokemon, and ash looks cuter when small.
In Japan, being a kid means being free. Adults don't have that kind of freedom.
That's why he's still a kid.

Ash is said to be 13 in the series now. He still looks the same to me though.
I still like Riven Riven Riven Riven Riven Riven Riven Riven Riven Riven Riven Riven!
I think they keep him at this age, so that the young audience can better associate with the main "hero" of the anime.

It's a cartoon, accept that.

I think a better question is: Ash has been through 5-6 leagues (placing pretty high in most of them), saved the world upwards of 10 times, encountered more legendary pokemon than you can shake a pokedex at. Why isn't he more well known?

Not ben 10
More importantly how are those twins, that are like 5 years old, in the pokemon games allowed to battle?

I actually completely read it and have to say that this is quite interesting, although there are some logical flaws.
I think they actually let him age to 12, maybe 14. I refuse to believe they kept him at 10 for all of those seasons. Hell, his voice even cracked.
I never paid much attention to the Pokemon anime anyway, it was always one of the least accurate mediums of the Pokemon franchise.
