I signed up with metalhead0001 when I was eleven and kept it for most of the time that I was a consistent poster on the poli boards. Then, I changed to ThisNameRocks and then, two days later, to ThisNameSucks upon a suggestion. Finally, a few months before the username lockdown, I changed to InsertFunnyUserName and I don't really have any desire to switch out for something else at this point.

My old name was "destrtoyer" (with the spelling errors, I was a child when I made the account).

And now I'm this.

I'm not sure which is worse.

Before your time NG users could change their name whenever they wanted and could have dashes at the beginning or end. Then when the redesign came around, users couldn't have dashes and stuff unless it was in the middle of their name.

There are a few users who I had thought simply disappeared from the site at one point or another, only to find that they got name changes and I never knew about it.

At one point or another, my username was "100111100." You can see my posts from back then in various low-importance threads from 2006-07.
I changed it to Ronadl-McDonald-LoL later on, after the noob days started to come to an end.

Prior to the announcement of username lockdowns, I had many names. Most of them were just for fun or I was messing around but the major ones are Bahamut7 -> Bahamut- -> Bahamut. Still to this day I am very grateful for Tom to give me this username.

Remember that a name-change is a lucky privilege when it occurs - not a guaranteed right - especially if it would be easier to simply abandon your current account and create a new account with the name you want - so having flash/audio/art on your account certainly helps in any name-change request.
