Fallout: New Vegas.

Possibly the most anticipated game of the Fallout series. After the success of Fallout 3, Bethesda have moved onto what will hopefully be bigger and better things with the expansion of the Post Nuclear War into what was once the worlds most lively city: Vegas. The game has a release date in fall of 2010, and should cost you something like $60 according to the information given. Here is some quick information:

Developer: Obsidian Entertainment.
Publisher: Bethesda Softworks.
Genre: Role Playing Game.
Release Date: Fall 2010. (No Official Date).
Price: Approx. $59.90.

The game will have online access, and will be a traditional one player game like all the time. It will be packed with downloadable content, and I assume it wont be a game you'll throw away after you first complete it. Fallout 3 had some fairly good online play, so I assume NV will follow on from that. No point going backwards.

The official game blurb is as follows:
'Experience all the sights and sounds of fabulous New Vegas, brought to you by Vault-Tec, America's First Choice in Post Nuclear Simulation. Explore the treacherous wastes of the Great Southwest from the safety and comfort of your very own vault: Meet new people, confront terrifying creatures, and arm yourself with the latest high-tech weaponry as you make a name for yourself on a thrilling new journey across the Mojave wasteland. A word of warning, however - While Vault-Tec engineers have prepared for every contingency, in Vegas, fortunes can change in an instant. Enjoy your stay.

The game has not yet had a classification. But a typical M rating is expected. Not that anyone here really cares what it gets rated I assume. I'll post some useful links below.

I searched. There were absolutely no worthwhile threads found on the first 2 pages in multiple searches.

- New Vegas: Debut Trailer (High Definition).
- Wikipedia Page. Typical Information.
- IGN Page. Typical Information.

Discuss.

Profile Aspects: Under Construction.

There have been very few games I have gone back to play again, and zero games I have bought downloadable content for. The former being because there are always new games to play, and the latter because DLC always seems so overpriced.

I find that with games like Fallout, and other story-light free-roaming RPGs, the main joy is in exploration. Once I have explored these games' worlds I don't find any reason to go back.

With, say, JRPGs, and WRPGs of the likes that Bioware make I can go back to them in a similar way I would go back to a movie, to experience the story again. But when the joy is in the world itself, there isn't as much reason to go back.

With New Vegas, it will have to be proven to me that it is sufficiently different from Fallout 3 before I buy it. Don't get me wrong, I liked Fallout 3, but when I finished Fallout 3 I felt like I was finished with Fallout 3.

If it's a new game entirely, that's great. But if it's just Fallout 3 in Vegas, I don't have much interest in it.

In addition to that, if I do decide I want to buy it, I might wait until a potential Game of the Year edition comes out, with DLC included in the price of admission. I felt annoyed getting Fallout 3, and then later on seeing this better version of Fallout 3 for the same price.

And that is my opinion on Fallout: New Vegas at this time.

It looks awesome, there's no doubt that I'll buy it as soon as it hits the shelves.

Let's roll.

I'm fairly sure its an entire new installment to the series. So basically Fallout 4 if you don't get too technical about it. I don't think its an expansion, otherwise why would the page mention downloadable content, and charge so much for it, and so on. I could be way off though.

It's definitely not an expansion, it is an entire new game. I think it's going to look pretty similar to Fallout 3 though, seeing as it will be using the same engine.

I've only recently started playing Fallout 3 again, and I've been sucked in once again. I can't wait to play New Vegas. The "Hardcore Mode" also sounds interesting. It's meant to make things a little more realistic, in that you need to drink to stay alive and such. It might make things a little more interesting, although it might interfere a little. I always think back to San Andreas and how they made you have to eat. It was a neat feature at first, but eventually it just got in the way of the fun. At least this will be an optional mode in New Vegas and we don't get it forced upon us.

Can't wait for this titile, and in some ways I'm quite please to know that it isn't Bethesda developing the title. Hopefully that means the next TES game will be started soon, if not already.

It is definately an entire new game, completely cut off from Fallout 3. I was looking into it before. So, its not an expansion of any sort. And although I believe it may be using the same engine, the story and game itself will drift from Fallout 3 quite a bit.

None of the characters will be in this next installment, and its 3 years in the future. Hopefully its more than the same game again without the same characters. I hope they really expand on it this time.

Actually take it places. And don't try to stay safe, by keeping it like Fallout 3.

How is this an official thread?

I love the pre-shit Fallout games, and I appreciate BlackIsle for making them. The games using Beth's PoS engine is a shit stain on a game classic.

Check out the Flash RPG I made in 2024. It takes about 25 minutes to complete.

From the screenshots, it looks the same. How they will deal with a complete city that went somewhat unharmed from the bombs will be interesting to see. Though I did read somewhere (could have been on wiki) that it will be more centered on FPS style. How that would make any difference is something I don't get.

Well. Taken from the Fallut wiki:

"The story will continue some parts of the Fallout and Fallout 2 stories, but will not be related in any way to the one in Fallout 3.

Fallout: New Vegas will take place in 2280, 3 years after the events of Fallout 3 and 39 years after Fallout 2, making this installment set the farthest in the series. The New California Republic will play a major part in the story, in a three way struggle between the NCR, the Caesar's Legion slavers, and the local New Vegas populace.

The player will play as a courier, who was left to die in a shallow grave, rescued by a TV Robot named Victor, and patched up by a Doctor Mitchell."

It's better this way. Wouldn't make sense to refer to Fallout 3, especially regarding Project Purity.

Although, as Aegis mentioned, I'd wait until they release an edition with all DLC (because the most probably will make at least 2) included, as opposed to buying the game for full price without any add-ons.

As long as it will be modifiable, it should sell rather well.

Project purity was kind of a big deal man, especially when the entire Capital Wasteland came together with the BOS once it got kicked off. Not only would I not be surprised that we hear something about it, but for all we know the Capital Wasteland could be known as the Capital Federation or something, sure it's only three years but you never know.

Probably mild spoilers ahead.

Don't forget though that you had the option of taking Eden up on his proposal with the mutagen.
They would have to make it rather obscure, or maybe just the name will occur, but no actual information will be given.

Don't they have a canon version of the event of the original Fallout?

The canon version? I don't think there is one. The ending was decided by the player.

Collector's Edition

For $80(or $70 on PC) you get

-The game
-a set of seven casino chips representing casinos from the game
-a special "Lucky 38 platinum chip''
-a full deck of cards with New Vegas characters
-"All Roads" (A hardcover graphic novel)
-a making-of DVD

Also, I'm guessing casino chips will be the currency intead of bottle caps

I'm not so sure about that myself, the studio working for New Vegas are the remains of the orginal Fallout 1 and 2,

I'm not sure if this is kinda like a response to the oldschool fans, giving the old devs the good times back, or both.

I for one, can't wait to see more about this, since it surrounds the popularity of New Reno from Fallout 2 aswell, alot of stuff you could do there as I remember it, mostly being a made man in a mobster gang, being a pornstar, or a very skilled boxer, all with pickable nicknames that suited the topic in questions. Female characters for example could pick a obscure pornstar name like "pochahotass"
