Haha yeah. Weebl's name was right at the top of the list, but when I asked him earlier this week he was like 'there's an NG meet?' Still unconfirmed if he'll make it or not. We'll just keep it as a potential surprise I guess.

There are a fair few people on there who aren't necessarily coming. I think it's the same guest list from the meet two years ago.
At least it gives people some idea though

Eh, not really. Some people have been added, just people haven't.

This too will pass.

Damn it!

If I had noticed this earlier I would have made arrangements :(

Hopefully I'll catch it next year.

Yes!

You need a zone 1-2 card, because Wapping is in zone 2. The good news is that a Zone 1-2 travelcard costs exactly the same as a zone 1 travelcard!

I don't know if this has been answered before so forgive me, but am I right in thinking you can get a travelcard along when you buy a train ticket? I'm pretty sure I did it before and it just cost a few quid more for my journey from kent.

The list is for the most part updated. Some people signed up to go via the facebook event page, some via msn, some via aim, some via singing telegram etc. Weebl for instance was pming me info about the place picked out for tmrw. It'll never really be realistic because people back out last minute (or show up last minute) but for the sake of getting a ball park id say its not terribly out of range. Oh well, worst case scenario it'll be just me.

Yeah, it only costs like £2 or something trivial like that (for me) when I buy a travelcard with my train ticket. There's an option for it and everything. Go for that.

Looks like I can only come for the main day. At least it's the best day :D

Does anyone know if the tubes stop running after a certain time of night?

Zones 1 and 2 though? Sorry I leave everything late. Not even checked train times yet.

Most of them stop around midnight. Kind of ironic for a city that supposedly never sleeps.

Is that like that Oyster card thing? Because that seemed very interesting. Seeing as I would like to go from here to there on Friday and get to do some sight seeing.
Although I'm mainly counting on cabs for the evening...The card is valid for 2 days? Or something?

As far as I'm aware, the card does not run out. So it might cost you £2-3 for the card itself, then you pay for credit on the card (pretty much as you do with a cell phone). If you're just there for a day, then it'd be cheaper to get a pass that will allow you to travel between the zones we're going to, otherwise, you could be saving quite a bit by getting an Oyster Card. If I get my act together, I'll be getting one.

Yeah, with a ticket it's even zones 1-6 just in case you want to go wild

Tubes stop running at around midnight, however buses run a lot later and travelcards (if you have one that includes buses) are valid for all journeys starting before 4AM the next day so you can get back fine from pretty much anywhere. There are plenty of night buses in London.

Exactly right. Never runs out, £3 deposit for the card.

DON'T FALL INTO THE TRAP THAT I DID LAST TIME I WAS THERE. I was scammed into buying a "bus ticket" from some dude who approached me when I was drunk in a bus queue after missing the last tube back to where I was staying.

I handed over £5 or so for this ticket, before looking at the ticket I already had been using for the tube that day, which included bus travel and cost about the same. He'd disappeared before I could get someone to knock his two remaining teeth out on my behalf.

And other people would agree with you. I forget who told me about London adopting this terminology, but at least I'm not the only one who has heard of this.

Trains stopping past midnight is one of the main reasons I never get to have any late night fun outside of trips to London.

It's utterly ridiculous.

I really pretty heavily on public transport (Trains mainly)

But half the time i'm fucked over by the travel system.

Then again..

There have been COUNTLESS times when i've come back around 11 and the train station in my old town was closing.. However one night when I went to see Dream Theater the trains were running at 2am.. The station was still open contrary to regular days and stuff..

I'm under the impression weekends are different but it seems as though they pick and choose almost.

I'm debating dropping by tomorrow since I'm pretty much in the area anyway, but due to trains I will probably only be able to stay for a couple of hours.

Saturday's a definate though.

Capital!

This means that the larger part of my budget for this year's meet will be transport, but that's not a big deal... unless we go shopping and max out the old credit card, that is...

I have just bought my train ticket today, it is cheaper if you leave after 9:30, also have an oyster card so I can freely roam when we are there :)

In 24 hours time, I should be arriving at Victoria Coach Station.

I'm just going to assume I'll be seeing whoever is on that list. Hopefully everyone I want to see will be there but if some can't make it in the end, not much I can do about that. If someone I really wanted to see such as Coop didn't show up (not saying he'll actually do that), I'll still take whoever I saw for granted.

If any one's going to Barrio North tonight it's at 45 Essex Road, Islington, London N1 2SF, not 55 Essex Road like it says on the hub page!
