I've made some big changes to the database configuration over the past 48 hours and the site seems to be handling itself very well at the moment. I also made some changes to the scripting in the Portal. I don't want to jump the gun and say that there will be no more errors, because during peak time there might still be more requests than the server can handle, but you should certainly see a lot less now. I'll be making some more changes to the configuration tomorrow morning, so if you see some errors at that time, hang in for 10 and then give the site another go. Let me know how you get on with the errors!

Also, I've updated the Portal judgement requirements. They're now "judged" at 150, 175 and 200 votes with the same thresholds. If you notice anything funky with that stuff, again, let me know.

me too. but I've got no errors today, no. although I see this: "There are no other submissions by ." when there is an author submitting to the portal without any earlier submissions. I thought you might want to fix that, or?

The portal is working fine but the BBS is driving me absolutly insane I keep getting "Error - invalid request method. Check that you are not being bounced through some auto-submission script. Newgrounds.com BBS can be found here. Please go back and try again. " I am just clicking reply to post as normal. I only started seeing this particular error 2 or so days ago. Its kinds frustrating, cause I get it with EVERY post. Very rarely does one go through. Which is what I am going to try with this one...

To anyone whom this may concern, I have 2 ideas.

1. There should be a whisttle/flag option for non-compressen mp3's, a LOT of n00bs doesn't compress their audio, and that's just annoying...

2. It surely will be less crap in the portal if you raised the bar to... 2.00 or 2.50

What browser/OS are you using?

The error happens on Microsoft IE 6, runnning windows XP. Im writing this in Mozilla firebird, though it dosnt work as well, it seems to be able to post.

Oh yeah, I fogot to mention that I am getting the vote bar before submissions load as well
using Mozilla 1.6 and Win 98

hey i noticed one funky thing in the flash portal. some of the letter grades are off, for instance mario clone has a score of something like 2.35 right now and it's got an A+ if you hold the cursor over it. plus there's one thing a little above it (don't know what it was called) with a higher score but it had a B

The letter is the overal rating that the author has. It's not the rating of the submission.

What's there to fix? If there aren't any other submissions by that author, why can't it say "There are no other submissions by"? Can you think of something else it should say?

150 seems too late, because a new movie that has a score under 1.00 at 100 votes isn't very likely to get over 1.6 by the time it gets to 200 votes. 100, 150, and 200 seem more realistic, but thats just me
