Something moar serious
Okay, I was listening to NPR this morning, right before I got probably the worst high of my life. (I'm still feeling the aftereffects) But that's beside the point. The point is that they were discussing Japanese culture, and they made a reference to the guy who drove his truck into a crowded square a little while ago. I'm sure you all heard of that. He drove into the square, killing three people. He then proceeded to kill 4 more people, including a police officer, using a knife.
Apparently, during this incident, several of the citizens, instead of fleeing or trying to apprehend the assailant, they literally take out their cellphones and begin to film the incident.
First, what do you think of the fact that the assailant was able to kill 4 people with a knife before being stopped? Second, what do you think of the fact that some people not only decided to watch the spectacle, but actually filmed the spectacle instead of helping out their fellow citizens?
It tugged at my brain all day...
