Have any of you ever had a day where you internetted so hard that at the end of it you just wanted to turn off your computer and cry at the sad state of humanity but instead you pulled up facebook because your a sad excuse for a human?

When you have a bunch of songs lying around that need vocals before you can do anything else with them, it sort of makes you feel like you've accomplished something but not enough.

Music Tutorials
I want to make some music tutorials and I want to have screen capture of my DAW. Anyone know a good (maybe free or with a demo/trial without watermark) program? something gentle on CPU, because my DAW is not :D

Most gamers and tutorial guys I know use FRAPS. It is free last I checked.

Yyyyyeah, but that looks like it involves everything. Mi.Mu is directed specifically towards music and music performance.

How is that a problem? It has an app that let's you easily assign gestures to midi

For those who may have been curious, here's a comparison glimpse of two Windows-based DAWs stacked atop each other.

I attempted to put together a view that tries to bring up the most similarity, rather than difference, as both DAWs can have their windows/panels moved around (though as far as I know while Sonar's control bar can be rearranged, it must float as one piece). It's not perfect, I know, but it is what it is.

If any more shots of other comparisons are requested, let me know.

It's not a problem. I'm just saying the music-oriented point because...we're music people, right?

Sorry, I realized I came off kinda snarky haha. I see your point though. I'm sure the glove would give you more accurate gestures. Although, I've used the leap motion and it works surprisingly well. But, you need to have a decent light source for it to work properly.

Contests have pretty much been put off indefinately as the NG store no longer exists, so prizes really can't be handed out anymore.

inb4 @Bosa

I should run a contest and hand out old gear I dont use much. Any of this sound worthy of a contest?

Presonus TubePre Preamp
Korg Nanopad Midi Controller
Behringer Mic200 Tube Preamp

First place gets first pick, second place second pick, and so on. Maybe toss in first place gets a copy of either David Gibsons The Art of Mixing or Owsinski's Mixing Engineers handbook.

Would that generate a crowd we think?

Isn't the NGADM contest gonna start about this time of the year?

The real reason they stopped doing contests is because they were tired of me winning everything. Newgrounds pretty much supported me financially, so something had to change. That is something to bear in mind.

Work

Went to a job today and this guy who showed me what I was to do after the last order was finished was like, "I got 100 of these units processed in 3 hours yesterday," and I go on to process 200 units in 2 hours (give or take several minutes), lol. Did 500 by the end of the work day. Boss was impressed.

Response to The Audio Forum Lounge 2014-06-14 02:25:31

I guess a couple hundred bucks of gear and books isn't really enticing enough then. I was hoping for some excitement. Are we all getting old or what?

you know he probably just said that to make you work harder. Reverse psychology always works :P

I thought it was really easy. I knocked out 25 units roughly every 15 minutes (give or take, depending on circumstances), but this is probably because I had a processing system set up that was better than the other guy's. Even if it was a psychological tactic, these guys have been good to me in the past and pay well, so I don't see a reason to not work hard.

well there you go - alls well that ends well :)

how you been btw dude.. haven't been here for a while.

Oh, I've been living in extreme poverty since 2013, being forced to live with (mooch off of) other people since we lost our home due to my wife's workplace going under. Became a born again Christian and am cleaning myself up. I was going to work for Harley Davidson, then my car went kaput. Got a new car and have been working temp jobs when they're available to support my wife and two kids. Aaaand I'm going in a lounge/chillout direction with my music and am currently working on a Christian chillout album.

Also cut my long hair off.
