It's not all about the quality of the art, y'know. Creativity, fun and just how fucking awesome it would be to have as a pet were all considered as well as it being a pet and not some gimmick, lame appliance or awesome creatutre. Personally I'd rather have a fuzzy, blue copterphant than any other single pet that was posted. Just look at it! Cute, fuzzy, blue, it hovers.... brilliant! =]

Yeah, I was surprised that one didn't win anything either. I loved the light on it.

But from the judge's point of view, they look for not only artistic ability but the idea and cuteness and creativity of the abilities of the pet. Obviously if it were rendered in high quality as a photoshop painting instead of a gif, it would have probably won for its artistic ability AND originality since having an elephant with a helicopter tail would be extremely badass to the extreme. hope that helps.
