Day 10: When the tiniest runt of the whale pod discovers a love of dance, the rest watch in awe.
Not VGM this time. I decided to build this one off of mostly repetitive patterns, but I also kept it in an odd meter (5/8 alternating 2+3, 3+2). The instrumentation consists of mostly pitched metals, glass, and piano/harp. I decided to get a flute in there because I wanted something with some actual sustain on it. Same idea for the pads. I sort of sped through the mixing phase, so I'm guessing I'll come back to that at some point to clear it up a bit.
A little explanation on the theme here: I made a number of simple instruments out of [public domain] samples that I got when preparing an audio installation for my undergraduate program. I created these instruments to help produce randomly-generated animal noises from a selection of files I had collected. Without getting into it any further, I pulled up the whale sound instrument again and played in a high register - this gave me a tiny little "squeak". It was adorable. It sounded like some sort of tiny whale, so I thought that would be a good direction to go. You can hear the little sound at the beginning and end of the piece.
Hope you like it!

Thanks man! I don't often mess around with weird instrument combos so I'm glad it came out nicely. It was fun to do, for sure! Appreciate the feedback!
