--- Edit: Did another mixing pass, cleaned it up a little more. Fixed a small timing issue. Turned up the rhythm guitar in the end part. Maybe too loud now? I wanted to hear it on small speakers a bit more. ---

I wanted to try something new (again...again) so I tried to use dissonance and some unsual chords (unusual for me anyway). This is what I came up with!

I recently got my first 7 string guitar (Schecter Demon 7 FR Vintage White) and so I wrote this track with the 7th string in mind. I tuned the whole guitar down 1 step (so the 7th is an A) as I usally tune 6 strings down to drop C anyway.

The extra range is great, I'm really glad I got this beast. Also it has a Floyd Rose bridge which I've never had before so I made use of that at times.

Plus... I LOVE the tone I got from it. Woooo!

I'll probably go through and adjust a few more things but I wanted to publish it anyway. Thanks for any critique!

The song starts off very well with a soothing and atmospheric keyboard intro, then it goes into a very loose and relaxed guitar solo which I really liked also. Your tone is strong, and the chorus in your guitar playing helps develop the atmosphere.

The only problem I really have is that it sounds a little out of key in some parts. Like for example, there are a few moments in your clean instrumental section at 2:18 where I feel like some notes are out of place. However, the transition into your other solo at 2:58 definitely made up for it, as it introduced a heavier part of the song that contrasts well with the rest of your piece. I think the ending had a little more potential, but the way finished it was still strong and conclusive.

Overall, very good work! I'd give this an average of 86%.

Finally came back, sort of, to find this piece of yours. Well done with it! Love the guitar work, even if it doesn't sound that retro to me.

I like the atmosphere at the beginning and the intricate rhythms at around :20. The occasional chromatic harmonies (like at :50) helped spice things up too. The piece could've been a bit more dynamic at times, but you also kept things engaging with the guitar solo at 1:40 and the chill breakdown thereafter. The editing at 2:45 or so might've needed a tad more work to synchronize everything properly, but the distorted guitars and energy during the last major phrase really help tie the piece together at the end. Overall nice work, MetalRenard! Glad to see you experimenting with some looser harmonies and such. ^_^

MetalRenard responds:

Thank you for the detailed review! You spoil me. I was planning on fixing that later but couldn't be bothered yet. Haha! You have good ears! I'll make sure to do it next time I open the project.

sounds like some anime haha. Damn this is good

MetalRenard responds:

Everything I make sounds like anime or something. Can't escape it. Hahaha

Beautiful. Simply beautiful. Keep up the awesome. :D

MetalRenard responds:

Thank you, mate!
