This is amazing!!!

Great work! Congratulations on creating such a masterpiece!

Looking forward to hearing more of your music <3

This has to be one of my favourite submissions to the NGADM of all time, even if you're a fill-in. I really love this, and now that winter is in full-flow and the streets outside are completely coated with snow here in Finland, this song serves to remind me of how warm it feels to be inside, and how beautiful it is outside. Thank you for this!

stardew responds:

thank you so much! i'm a big fan of your music

oddly enough it's also started snowing here in the northern U.S., which is what inspired me to write this. i'm glad i was able to convey that feeling through this song :-)

I really appreciate the clear effort you put into this submission, despite being a newly-solo fill-in. The atmosphere of this piece is just haunting. I love the bells/chimes, ghostly pads, and eastern-sounding melody instruments towards the beginning. The relaxed mood and gradual progression of the piece complement each other quite well, and the sound design is simply fantastic. I loved the moment of stillness in the middle (1:57), that offered a hint of a breakdown/bridge without fully devoting itself to a distinct section of the piece. I just thought that was a smart move in terms of pacing the rest of the piece, especially as things got more lively and melodic during the second half. The piece lives up to its title by around 2:30, which seems like it’s out of a whimsical animated feature trip to the South Pole. The gradual descension back into the warm flowiness of the intro is well-orchestrated as well. Overall, this is an amazing piece worthy of a top 4 spot and more. Congratulations on all your hard work throughout the competition this year, and I hope to see (and hear!) more from you next year. ^_^ Also, is there somewhere I can download this? This was made for my personal chill-out playlist. Thanks.

thanks for the review! 1f1n1ty and i were planning on releasing this on an EP & posting it on bandcamp for download, but that will inevitably take a long time. i can send you a wav or mp3 file because you've left so many helpful reviews, though! feel free to DM me on here or discord (if you use it, you can find me in the NGADM 2019 discord c:)

so lovely, as always. i think my favorite description of evocative writing that i've ever had someone give me is that it should have "tactile, viscous details" and i think that's something you've really started to embody in your own work. i can feel the music on my skin

stardew responds:

that last sentence is also a very good conveying-of-feeling!

i'm really glad you noticed all the little details i worked at :) i used to think my hyper-focusing on small individual elements was something that i should work to get rid of, but as of late i've tried out embracing it, and i think it's proving to be a lot better for me.

Well first of, I love the title. I might be biased though, as it sounds like a title I would come up with xD
Biased or not, it fits the track really well. I love the atmosphere in the intro. I am impressed by how well you used the held back, almost dry sound to portray such a warmly cold feel. If someone would've dropped out, I believe this track would've been a tough one to beat. I am glad you took the time to make it just in case. Even if you didn't progress, you ended up with another great composition under your belt.

I'm looking forward to hearing more of your work in the future.
