This is basically a song where I indulged every stupid idea I had no matter whether it would actually fit in this song or belonged in some other song 600 miles away or NO SONG EVER.

This is also the song where I wanted to do a vocal song despite getting sick and therefore I only had like 4 bars of actual good stems (recorded before I got sick) and I had to stretch them out to fill the whole song without somehow sounding overused. Why you ask? INDULGENCES.

Also there's a random britpop piano section wtf dont ask me I just do what he tells me

PS putting this in hip hop as a genre protest

EDIT thanks for front paging this!

I like the relaxed vibe at the beginning and the creative percussion. The vocals have a great, soothing vibe, but could probably be a bit more prominent in the mix. It’s hard to discern the lyrics. May I request that you put them in the author’s comments? The production quality is strong here, although at times the pacing is pretty slow and the texture is pretty thin, especially between 1:30 and 3:00 or so. The transition at 1:26 could’ve been a tad stronger, too. I liked the gradual climax into 3:35 and the key change at 3:49. I like the vocal work at 4:25 too, and despite the somewhat disjointed arrangement of the piece, it has a nice flow and a pleasant sense of resolve towards the end. Overall, my main concerns here are the drawn-out nature of the composition, the extended moments of minimalism, and the somewhat incoherent structuring. Still, you’ve done a lot of good work with the mixing, sound design, mood, and melodies here. Keep at it, Johnfn! ^_^

A really goovy, spacy listen.

johnfn responds:

Thanks! Funny you say it's "goovy" as I normally write a lot of groovy music but I didn't think this one was particularly groovy. I guess it's just part of my style now.

OOOOOOOooooooooo ! <@_@>

<3 it smuch

5/5

johnfn responds:

:o thanks!

I don't know what Lunacy is referring to, but maybe he's talking about how I like to throw in every stupid idea in my work. Yeah that's probably it.
Anywho, that synth at 57 seconds, classic Johnfn from your days when you won the NGADM. Very tasty
And regarding any comments about being repetitive, I listen to Philip glass on a regular basis so I don't care.

I think it's that piano motif constantly going for two minutes that will bother people.
The last 30 seconds reminds me of the Beatles.
Hey this is still a fun listen

johnfn responds:

HAHA yeah the last section sounded like the beatles to me too! In fact I had a whole idea where that was going to be a chorus section i repeated a few times, but by the time I had the idea I was too sick to actually record half decent chorus vocals. So I gave up and stuck it on the end. Ssh dont tell anyone

if phonometrologist can do it then so can you

johnfn responds:

i can definitely do YOU
