This is definitely one of my most complex songs up to date.
Not because this is the first time I attempted recording a few classical guitar parts but also composition- and structure-wise.
I’ve always been very strict with myself about harmony and “Thrill” is my attempt at opening up and trying out more advanced correlations between the instruments. When I composed this I was not aware that this would require more than the standard 4 lead tracks. This one, requiring 6, was not the easiest to structure without making the mix muddy. I figured out the best setting I could, yet there is a few parts that get outta hand but I tried my best making it sound as good as I can for now.
I’m starting to get the hang of mixing and mastering, although I still tend to spend too many hours on it. When it comes to sound quality, I’m slowly getting to that specific tone that I’m longing for.
Many bold moves were made with this track, especially when it comes to mixing. I concentrated on the kick-drum more this time, since I’ve always wondered how the pros get those nice boomy kicks in the songs.
I’d say I’m slowly getting there.
This track was most definitely worth the many unslept nights that I’ve spent on it! Was a blast!
Hope you enjoy! :)
