I love it!!!!
Great, now you've got this song stuck in my head for the rest of the night xD
This project was started in October 2016, when I awoke from a dream with the melody stuck in my head. I fleshed it out a bit more over the coming months, and gave it the final touches a couple of days ago. I didn't spend much time on it overall, unfortunately - about 6 hours in FL Studio 11. Notable plug-ins used include 3xOsc, Autogun, WaspXT, DrumPad, and Nexus. I hope to upload some more meaty stuff soon, but doing something light and cheesy felt good. :)
I love it!!!!

Thanks so much, man!
Melody - 5/10
Harmony, Atmosphere - 10/10
Sound Design - 8/10
Mixing - 9/10
Drum Choice - 7/10
Overall: 7.8/10
Comments:
1.The melodies seem very odd and don't really fit in with the bass.
2.I love the atmosphere of this song. It's just very nostalgic in some way.
3.The sound design is pretty decent. The plugins blend nicely.
4.The mixing is one of the best parts. It's just the melodies that seem a bit odd.
5.The drum choice isn't bad either. The only thing that annoys me a bit is the repetitive popcorn snare..
Overall, awesome job!
Thanks so much for the review! Yeah, I totally get what you mean with the melodies...I took a different approach to constructing the harmonies than I usually do, but I'll keep working on it! I'm glad you like the atmosphere and mixing. I can see how the snare is a bit overdone, too. Really helpful review! I love the format - makes everything so clear. Thanks again. ;D
I really like that popcorn snare. It has a nice punchiness that cuts through the synths effectively. I think the understatement of the percussion works well against the arpeggios. The choir pads feel a little murky in the mix, but they set up a sort of tension that is released once the chip synths come back in. If you decided to pick at this some more, you could potentially make that B section do more, but considering the project timeline, this came out super well. You did a lot of work in 6 hours. nice job.
Thanks a lot for the review, SFW! I agree about the murky pads - I probably should've at least toned down the reverb there. Or I should try to avoid using Nexus presets altogether. XD I'm glad you liked the snare, though - personally, I liked how it meshed with the rest of the sound design. :) Thanks again and good luck in NGUAC. ^^
Nice little piece!
There were some dissonant notes I weren't super fond of in the beginning, around 8 seconds in (I sometimes like dissonance, it really just depends on the style, instruments, or even something as intricate as the timbre of a sound).
I like the rhythm a lot. the percussion coulld maybe sound a bit broader, but then again, this sound has a cute little charm to it too! So I kinda get it :D
Some of the main melodies are pretty neat!
The progression is all over the place, especially with that middle section, and I love it xDD
Autogun can be fun to play around with. I've seen/heard more and more people use it in their tracks :O
The ending is a bit lackluster, but it could be argued that fits a piece of this caliber. Nice to hear some stuff from you!
Keep it up ;)
Thanks a bunch, LSD! I totally agree about the dissonance in the beginning and the lack-luster ending. Hopefully the next chip compo will motivate me to make something more polished. :) Glad you like the melodies, too - I don't know quite how it got in my head, but I put it down in FL's piano roll as quickly as possible. XD Thanks again! Good luck in the NGADM. ;D
