This was for a cypher as part of a Chicago-based event. I don't really like the take I did (hey, still in one take) but I had very little time to record and this is what I stuck with.

Lyrics:
What's the cause and effect when you pause to inspect
The impossible mess of implausible deaths
A knock to the head, a shot to the chest
And the cops that aggressed still have not been addressed
If the kid is black they kick his ass, he never gets a chance
Then they omit the facts, fibbing fast, insisting that they're hitting back
We sit and ask was it as bad in the past? It's in the stats
The face of Justice in a gas mask ain't the Scribble champ
States want order, but we're getting some bad instructions
When tear gas is literally a weapon of mass destruction
600 dead from stun guns, we should have had enough with
This but now it's rubber bullets on the field packing punches
The media reports, they were never meant to stop it
They just extend their wallets racking up hits on trending topics
Society's progress is a backspin, forever crossing
Chalk lines to cue a sinking nation, that's a center pocket
Perfect record scratched, they fix it at the station
Two weeks of paid leave, isn't that vacation?
One more empty desk, one less kid is graduating
One more empty room, now isn't that vacation?
A man in Chicago was raped with a Glock in a cage
Cops locked him away like Guantanamo Bay
Alone and scared in Homan Square and no one knows who's holed in there
Moldy air, cold and bare so they can know despair
Served in a casket, protected from the light of day
Searched and harrased, arrested when you try to save
Your own rights, own life, the handcuffs are so tight
Terrorism isn't just a rogue flight in the low sky
Some would say that surveillance could make it the safest
Others say it's invasive to gaze in the spaces
Cops are trained to mace kids in the face and blame them
We're living on death row, waiting, complacent
