I finally decided to make a song with an orchestra VST I have. It's pretty intimidating getting into it compared to soundfonts. I didn't do anything too complicated, like setting up articulation for all the instruments, but I think it sounds pretty good anyway.

Writing a song with an orchestra sound has been a really challenging thing for me ever since I started making music, so I feel pretty good about this song. Normally I write strings with a single generic string sound, but with this song I had to write the parts for all the string instruments separately.
Learning all the different parts of an orchestra is what really kept me from trying to make something like this, so I've spent a few months listening to classical music and reading about orchestras on wikipedia. Good ol' internet knowledge!
